I dont know about this part " but no use is well supported by scientific research. " Ointments and salves with Eucalyptus oil are very common in India and have been there for atleast a 100 years. (tm on bottles) They are the first things anyone reaches for muscular aches in which eucalyptus oil or " jaam oil " or " nilgiri oil " is a large constituent and for respiratory conditions a smaller percentage. The constituents of the musc ache blend which I remember - are eucalyptus, camphor oil, peppermint oil and nutmeg I think- and similar to the icy hot maybe? I've only used at most 2 at a time in a footbath, or a foot blend so as not to irritate skin. Ginger always burns no matter what dilution I've used so I use only when the pain is greater than the burns like on muscles around joints, etc Esther
