Thanks, Jennifer! I really appreciate it. I'll pass the information along. Take care, Stacey
Guest guest
Hi Stacey, I have heard of Lindi Skin and a few of our patients have used it. It is a 'botanical' line that helps manage some side effects from chemotherapy and radiation. Most of our patients have used it for an acne-like rash that can develop from a certain type of chemotherapy. They seem to have good luck with it, but it is very expensive. As for the friend who is loosing her hair from chemotherapy; unfortunately it will not grow back until she has completed her chemo. But, once she is done, you could try a blend to help stimulate the growth. The study you mentioned was for alopecia areata and they used lavender, thyme, cedarwood and rosemary in jojoba and grapeseed. It is too bad that they don't list the chemotypes or the amount used, that I can find. I haven't had any patients use a variation of this blend, yet. But, I think Marge has some experience with a version of this blend? Tell you friend to hang in there! Hairloss is one of the most devastating side effects, it is the one that is most visible. But, her hair will come back! Until then, she could try a beautiful scarf or hat and the wigs today are so amazing. Half the time you can't even tell it is a wig! However she is most comfortable. Good luck, Kamron --- Stacey <millerslm1 wrote: > Hi guys. I ran into a woman the other day who has a > friend who is just > starting to lose her hair from chemotherapy. Guest guest
There is an expensive therapy known as " chill cap " that is reportedly great at preventing the hair loss. I remember seeing somethng on TV saying it ran about a couple of hundred dollars per session, but I can't find that now. from one site: There's been some degree of success with what's known as the cold cap, or ice cap, which can help prevent total hair loss if used at the time chemo is administered. It works by cooling the cells of the hair root and restricting the flow of blood to them so these cells are less likely to be affected by the toxic drugs. But it doesn't work for all patients and some say the unpleasantness of the ice-cold cap on their scalps is worse than any other aspect of their chemo. Use of the cap also has the drawback of prolonging your stay in hospital (normally by at least a couple of hours). Search for penguin cap, cold cap, chill cap or related terms.
