Guest guest
x-posted to several groups In my class I warn the students that a spill can be costly, destroy a surface due to the chemical composition of the oil, and just plain make you sad that - " oops, there goes $40 (or more) of a pricey oil. Even cheap oils can wreck a surface, and maybe stink up your studio for a long time. You don't want that, you want your studio to remain as scent-free as possible. In the class I show a picture of a stainless steel tray with a small lip, and tell the students to visit Ebay or a restaurant suppply store. I saw enamel trays on martha stewart's site, but they were very costly. A member of my big just informed us that there are enamel trays at art supply stores for a reasonable price. They're called Butcher's trays (I guess they were first used in the meat industry.) They're great! Affordable and nice looking. Just remember, no more than one oil on the tray at a time, and any spill can be salvaged with a cotton ball (or balls, depending upon the amount.) Just place the oil-soaked ball in some alcohol or oil to leech out the aromatic, and at least you have a dilution to work with. If you can, use a pipette to suck it up and get it back in the bottle. I also clean my tray every time before use with isoprophy alcohol and a cloth to make sure there's no residual " anything " or dust on it. Here's a link to a store that sells the enamel trays. Just search locally so you don't have to pay a shipping fee. This is a great discovery! http://www.dickblick.com/zz030/00/?wmcp=google & wmcid=products & wmckw=03000-1006-5\ 867 -- Sincerely, Anya - perfumes, aromatics, classes, consultation Natural Perfumers Guild http://NaturalPerfumersGuild.com 1400 member Natural Perfumery group -
