Guest guest
I recently attended a local meeting of the Holistic Nurses Association and a few of the members were Hospice nurses that use different applications of essential oils at their job. Perhaps contact them, I believe they're an international organization. I also think Sylla Shephard has experience in this area. Good luck! kamronkeep <kamronkeep wrote: Hello Everyone, I've been asked to develop an aromatherapy program for a local hospice agency. I am looking to network with others who have experience in this area and are willing to share ideas and offer advice. Please feel free to contact me off list if you are interested or know of any sources you could refer me to. Thank you so much for your time and consideration! Kamron Be a better Globetrotter. Guest guest
I'm actually a member of the American Holistic Nurses Association. I hadn't thought of contacting them, but I'll have to do that and see if they can refer me to anyone. I'll try Sylla, too. Thanks for the ideas! Guest guest
Kamron, I've had personal experience using Frankincense... (a drop on the pajama collar) both to calm agitation, and to ease respiratory problems in the local hospice. Suspect it would be helpful for family members as well as the patient. Also I think the Agora archives have a case study about the use of a blend of cedarwood, frankincense, and I forget what else to ease the crossing over. Years ago the San Diego Hospice was implementing an Aromatherapy protocol/program; not sure if it is still going on. At the time they were using a blend of lavender and mandarine or tangerine for sleeplessness and anxiety, lavender baths for relaxation, etc. If you can contact them you might learn more? Seems to me Jeanine used to do work in a hospice in Oz..hope she'll see this thread and jump in. Laraine Kyle has also developed some Hospice programs...she'd be another wonderful resource. John Kerr shared the formula they used successfully for treating bed sores, if that would be helpful to you.
