Guest guest
Mmm, sounds good. I have all those oils. Maybe I'll give it a whirl. BTW, does anyone know if scenting the room with eo's is harmful to parakeets? It is a big area--about 1800--2000 sq. ft. or so. --\ ------------- Designer at Scrapbook-Bytes http://www.takeapick.com/2IH *Some people only dream of angels; we held one in our arms.* Remembering Jacob March 8 - 9, 1996 Our Angel: http://sids-network.org/fp/jacob.htm - " Stacey " <stacey612 <ATFE2 > Wednesday, September 12, 2007 5:38 PM [ATFE2] Fall Kickoff Blend > Here's what I've got in my burner now: > > Patchouli > Clary Sage > Clove Bud > Bergamot > > Most Clary and Bergamot... it smells like the colors of autumn, if > that makes sense. > > Ta, > Stacey > > > > >

Hi I doubt if there has ever been specific research into EO's and their effects on Birds other than for human research purposes, although birds are (well, canaries anyway) susceptible to gases. As Butch wrote recently on cats and EO's, direct contact could cause problems via grooming which would result in ingestion and we simply dont know what that would do... EO's in the room via vaporisation can be compared to any atmospheric aroma. Do you wear perfume, deodorant or body lotions when your around your bird? Use household cleaning products in the same room as s/he lives? Use parasitic control products? If so s/he is exposed to the same, similar or more potent chemicals as found in EO's..... Like anything to do with animals you need to apply common sence and observation. You know your pet, how s/he reacts can speak volumes. Just like humans they will let you know if they dont like something - and not just if its harmful! S/he may simply*not like* whatever you have in the oil burner! <lol> and its common courtesy not to use something our guests dont like.. <grin> Having said all that I just found this: " PLUG-IN Room fragrances - once again lethal to birds " On http://www.solwayparrotclub.co.uk/minor_ailments.htm Geesh...aways Google before hitting send....
