Hey guys. I'm serious about my research I have probably most of the

reference books that anyone can find on Herbs etc.

Now I want to ask what is your opinion on this book (encyclopedia of

herbs/historical uses/etc. they also have information on where the essential

oils originated from. I do not remember what printing it is or even if it

has added information in it after the last printing.)

Anyone?

-Jennifer,

I have the book too. It was recommended to me by, none other than,

Martin Watt.

I appreciate the traditional uses of the herbs, and the olde English

is rather charming.

Even thought it's about 100 years old, I think much of the information

still apllies as herbs and humans haven't changed so much in 100

years. Yes we do know more about some things, and many 'modern' books

clearly use it as a reference.

For more on EO's have you checked out the Artander or Guenther books?

They are hard to find.

David,

I have yet to allow myself the guilty pleasure of those. (Although I do

keep looking for them at all the local 1/2 priced books and all.) I found

Donna Maria's book and one of Martin's books at the one in austin. I have

just about every book that one can find on essential oils. I'm a

bibliophile.

I'm currently looking to expand as well in my book collection. Maybe I

should be a Librarian. He he he he he he.

Anyway. I was looking on line for the Arctander book and I think I found it

for a modest price.. Or maybe I was just mistaken...

The Arctander book is $349 from the publisher, http://allured.com It

used to be bundled in a three-volume set, along with the two synthetic

chem books in the series, but we on the NP group convinced them to

separate it out for us natural folk :-)

If you can get some people together, more than five at least, they'll

give you a 20% off deal - $280 plus shipping. Somebody has to collect

the money, and receive all the books and reship them to the other buyers.

Right now, the members of my perfumery class are on a bulk buy from

them, and I think we'll freak Allured out when I call in tomorrow for 18

copies!

It is a classic, and if you can swing it financially, you really should

get it. If the members of this group want to get in on a buy, write me

privately and I'll put you in touch with the editor who handles these

deals.
