Looking over Dr. Lad's foods by doshas list, am happy to report on it, although

taste wise we are not talking particularly about thyroid supports now (some are

higher than others and I'd have to look it up in another reference and miss the

mailrun...). Some definitely taste better than kelp!

He puts them under condiments for some reason

Dulse, Hijiki, Kelp, Kombu (another kelp) and seaweeds in general benefit vata.

Kelp is more heating than the others apparently and not so good for pitta! In

general , seaweeds seem to have some pitta, perhaps the salt content, but can be

used in moderate amounts for pitta. Similar breakdown for kapha as pittas -

kapha has to go easy on the salt and vata benefits.

The minerals and alkalizing as well as other beneficial effects of many seaweeds

make them in my opinion wonderful addition to cuisine choices and nutrition for

many childbearing mothers. Kombu (must be a variety of kelp?) is help for

yelping tummies towards better bean cookery/digestion. (couldn't help it,

sorry).

Best -

Ysha

there seem to be excellent quality sources for their excellent gifts properly

used.
