Guest guest
These are questions for vaidyas and licensed practitioners if you can help clarify in any way - Client this week has a 7 month old born 3 months premature, now with kidney stone acknowledged from probable over-management while in hospital. Any Ayurvedic ideas for support for this little one that way are welcomed. This is a doozy too - The mother is also inviting input how to manage the complications of multiple meds - zoloft, another SSRI for anxiety, steriods, lupis medicine, and other pain medicine. She has lots of pain all over her body and significant swelling especially from steriods, and other side effects. Agni VERY low, though hot flashes are recent complaint and she drinks iced water and coke, and occasional chills. She is also on new antibiotic and cough med now for sinus infection - which gained much comfort and stopped dripping/congestion with eucalyptus inhalation, hot CCF tea with ginger/turmeric, and stewed/spiced apples and prunes yesterday during her visit. Latter meds creating stomach pain. I can legally only offer vata management and resources/education, including supports with the side effects; the prakruti seems pretty tridoshic; vikruti tremendous vata of course. Even so, Im not entirely sure if there are contraindications with the vata supports which complicate further, such as with the gentle abhyanga stirring up. 21 years old - obviously has many life lessons Ma Nature is insisting she listen in about. And family patterns strengthening the tendencies - Grandma has lupis, etc. Good conversation with her mother yesterday briefly, though I'm not sure if I'll really see her again - these kind of clients often change their mind about what they are willing to do. Nonetheless, the future will bring more such complicated clients and this brings my attention to want to understand more. A team of us in Albuquerque are meeting regularly to create the functioning protocols for working with those clients who need licensed medical guidance/care, and help from those of us with just massage license or AyurDoula home care skills, consulting level Ayurvedic knowledge, herbal formulation, etc. Then we can all work in an effective integrative medicine team setting. The goal includes duplicable standards and protocols, much to be shared with NAMA. Much to be discussed and unfolded! The unique needs of women around childbearing require special attention this way, beyond standard Ayurvedic or medical practice to really see the results possible.
