Guest guest
Thankyou for all the support everyone! I really appreciate it and am doing a lot better! I just want to update you on the results and where I'm at now! I did a couple of months of Physical Therapy with many different types of kegals and that helped strengthen my rectal area to the point where I don't currently have rectal incontinence-TG and can even hold in diarhea. The skin is intact, it's just the muscle is damaged on one end. I saw a third urogynecologist and he said he could feel that the muscle is not joined on one side though and it will need to be repaired before menopause or I will have problems then as I get older. He thought sooner than better would be good since the muscles heal more easily. Dr. Lin is a good conservative doctor- I had to go all the way to Thousand Oaks, north of LA but it's worth it. He just laughed that my other urogyn had suggested labia plasty! We both feel postpartum labias are beautiful and don't need to be messed with. He also said I could wait to do the surgery after I wean Anjali so I can keep up with all these natural methods in the meantime. I'm also going to see a colorectal surgeon and then will get a recto-anal ultrasound... so it's a lot of research but then we will know for sure what's going on. I don't see how the perineum muscle or sphincter muscle will mend without surgery but at least things are more comfortable until I can do it and I will keep up with the natural things that will hopefully strengthen the area. I never knew there were so many types of kegals but they help and just regular exercise is strengthening me... I wish the weight would come off....I'm still 35 pounds over pre-preg! I'm not sure what to do about that but I figure it'll drop at the right time and I'm just focusing on getting stronger... I tried the sesame basti and I felt great but the baby, Anjali, seemed fussed so I'm wondering if it brought up too many toxins in my milk. I will hold off on those a little...well, maybe do one a month instead of frequently as I'd planned. I will see Mishra this month too and try out some of his oils and products. I love the Ashwaganda ghee though and am putting that on lots of food and using that and the Shatvari ghee vaginally sometimes. Anjali has also responded to the oils like magic! She can go from crying over indigestion to laughing in a second with lavender oil or malaluca on her feet or tummy and the Thieves has really helped our digestion too so I'm not so gassy anymore. And the lavender in wide circles around her eye helped clear the conjunctivitis but we did need antibiotics too because it got really bad. It's all better now though so I think all the natural things helped so it didn't recur. She still has some cradle cap though if you have any tips on that... This is such a wonderful community! I'm so grateful! I will keep studying up on the things you recc'd and keep you posted in case anyone else should need support around this! And very small, as you know, the 1/3 cup sesame oil is the standard. That amount is very gentle, soothing, nourishing, and a good way to administer herbal and essential oil influences as needed. The default I was taught and use is bala decoction in sesame. > > We ahve spoken of this on the forum before, and one of our vaidya members offered that sometimes even that much oil can be contraindicated when the agni is really compromised still, as we do absorb much of it sometimes. Of course I let my clients decide if they want it, and as legally we cannot administer w/o medical licensure, they give themselves before bedtime. > > It sounds like with your complications especially, and in any case daily abhyanga and soak in the tub is going to really support you also. Dr. Claudia Welsch, ayurvedic and chinese physician who teaches at the Ayurvedic Institute and a wonderful class on Women's health, has had great success clearing vaginal candida with pessaries (as you and I have discussed?) little soft cloth soaked in oil (she may use coconut or sesame) and melaleuca artinifolia (the more common one; but take care with quality). It or other oils of choice by details of the condition, doshic/gunas will address more than candida, has a broad spectrum antimicrobial property. the carrier oil protects the inivitable vata from birth and all these traumas. I'd favor myrrh as you know, which the Essential OIls Desk Reference suggests as an alt for " vaginal infection " to the melaleuca (or Melrose blend, which includes rosemary et al). They put myrhh with oregano and thyme, as well as suggesting some douche recipes, diluted with a Tbs thick carrier oil. > > > Is Vaginitis candida basically? > > Anytime you see " -itis " means irritation which has some inflammatory thing happening, some pitta involvement also. can be from multiple causes. > > >The doctor said I have this and wants me to use a soy based estrogen cream. > > I don't know why he gives this. If estrogen is low, we have options there depending on agni, what else you are doing, and your preferred mode of taking, but already you have so many practitioners, I don't want to suggest " adding " one more thing - a full picture reassessment is wiser and simpler. > > Do you know of something more natural I could do? That is good for you, but not medicine for this condition. Similarly taking lots of herb pills, or for that matter, oral antibiotics - consider what it takes to deliver their effects to that specific area. More direct applications are indicated. > > It must be very confusing having so many sources of advice, Nitya. We are honored you are sharing here, it is good education for many, and hope this doesn't confuse further. > > Warmly, > Ysha >
Guest guest
Dear Nitya - Thank you for sharing your journey. Your persistence to finding solutions that resonate with you is not easy to hold to with the way the medical system works often, and the expense of it. What kind of specialist taught the many types of kegels? As far as weight gained from the perinatal time, this is common and Dr. Bhate has discussed this (and many other related issues with weight) at http://health.ayurveda/message/7833. Note though his focus word is obesity, stubborn weight, or any excess weight issues relate well to many of the points of course. Some excerpts only from his significant article on Steps to reduce weight - {Root treatment of obesity lies not in cutting out or reducing some portion of dietary component, but in balancing the diet in harmony with the region in which a person is living. http://health.ayurveda/message/5872 ... Obesity can develop due to stress too. Instead of taking medication, natural ways to reduce such obesity are discussed at: http://health.ayurveda/message/5996... Poor oxygen in cells gives rise to muscle aches, poor digestion, dizziness, depression, irrational behavior, weakness, irritability, memory loss, circulation problems and stomach acidity too,(Message#7272)...... Yogurt, curd and other dairy products can promote obesity: http://health.ayurveda/message/6770 Most Indian regard rice as causing obesity, since easy to digest and has good number of calories. But this is myth as shown ..... Most women have to put up with obesity as a result of hormone disturbance either due to HRT or to post pregnancy hormone disturbance. The contribution of C-section to obesity has been already discussed in many posts on ayurveda. http://health.ayurveda/message/6729 http://health.ayurveda/message/1723 http://health.ayurveda/message/1696 Some ayurvedic remedies aimed at post-partum obesity control are discussed at: http://health.ayurveda/message/5786 Obesity in such cases is due to stopping of production of higher dhatus. Lack of higher dhatus leads to infertility. obesity and infertility are connected, as observations have shown. Also well known connection between insulin resistance and polycystic ovaries, a major enemy of fertility proves that accumulation of blood sugar as a result of insulin resistance and development of gestational diabetes during pregnancy can reduce the fertility of baby in the womb. http://health.ayurveda/message/6650 Ayurveda classifies obesity as a majority " Vata " disorder and therefore requires long time actions to cure or control the disease in tune with all vatic disorders. . its origins can all be traced back to nutritional deficiencies. http://health.ayurveda/message/6632 Global epidemic of obesity, requires that fat stored in liver be reduced first, in order that obesity reduction methods show success.} You may find valuable help and clarity also, at Ayurvedic Dr. John Douillard's www.lifespa.com u-tube shorts on weight loss and cleansing the liver first, (once bowel we know is moving well). He makes simple home remedy of 2 weeks on a grated beet salad with lemon and fresh ginger to help cleanse liver and gall bladder of sluggishness. THe fresh beet also provides good roughage and helps move the bowel, accomplishing all these at once rather well. The beet being a root vegetable is grounding, and with beet sugars, warming energy, the sour lemon and pungent ginger all help balance for vata in spite of being raw. How many vatas can do this? I don't know, will let you know how it feels for myself. I won't recommend it for early postpartum, and do not know what vaidyas will say about pregnancy as things which strongly increase apana vayu (downward subdosha of vata) are contraindicated of course. We just talked about many more the factors around stubborn weight loss lost night in a class here which brought up this great article while preparing for it. Warm regards - Ysha
Guest guest
This is very inspiring and helpful. I was doing the kegals with a physical therapist. I feel like I'm getting a lot stronger and there is not the same urgency to do the surgery. I will probably wait until Anjali has weaned so I don't need to mess up her routine in a year or so. These weight gain articles are great! It took me awhile to get through them all. I was especially inspired by all of Dr. Bhari's posts and leafing through Dr. Douillard's site. I got the beets and I'm going to try those and not snacking between meals. I just did the sesame enema this weekend and it was like a mini cleanse. I'm still hungry between meals but the hot water helps. Would it be ok to do the home prep while breast feeding that Dr. Douillard outlines here: http://www.lifespa.com/article.aspx?art_id=59 I feel like I need to do something more to get the ama out I have done this before but without the herbs pre- pregnancy and it was great. My stomach also always feels cold. Do you think it'd be good to do his Trikatu cleanse or any of the other things he suggests to light the fire? He also said if you eat two trifala pills after every meal the weight will slip off. The Thieves oil really helped with my candida but it came back last week when I got back from Hawaii and I got a chest cold. I think the enema helped flush some of the toxins out though. Thanks so much for your support everyone! Blessings, Nitya ayurveda , " ayurdoula " <AyurDoulas wrote: > > Dear Nitya - > > Thank you for sharing your journey.
