I just went to a Nils Bergman conference in Washington state and he is

fascinating. Though he talked a bout preemies, skin-on-skin and kangaroo care

(he directed the program in Cape Town Africa) what he said should actually be

about all babies..Studies on babies that involved brain wave patterns, breathing

and heartbeat of infants were done in regard to sleeping near mom in a

co-sleeper. The babies were ok if the cosleeper had an opening so the mom could

reach her arm over into the babies bed. But if there was a little wall between

mom and babe, the babies really reacted negatively. They know so much! If anyone

wants to know what is best, just ask the baby. Babies who were skin-on-skin

were the best off, as they are getting their brains hard wired because all their

senses were being stimulated, seeing the mom, smelling, touching, tasting and

hearing the mom all at once. Babies who don't get this togetherness are more of

a set up for later personality disorders and problems. Like we need studies to

imagine this. Strange world we live in where we have to prove the obvious to

those who have other agendas anyway and too much control.

thanks for posting that article! babies that co-sleep have a lower incidence

of SIDS, as

the mothers heartbeat and breath help to synchronize the baby's rhythms.
