Fascinating - Vit D as special antiviral support. We don't talk about vitamins

in AYurveda, classically. I can't help wondering what is the correlate to the

recent studies that taking lots of vit D is helpful to prevent flu, even low

levels of it being related to those children who died of the flu. Ysha

A similar Indian study published in 2004 also reported that vitamin D deficiency

in infants significantly raised their odds ratio for having severe ALRI.

Another 2009 report in the journal Pediatric Research stated that infants and

children appear more susceptible to viral rather than bacterial infections when

deficient in vitamin D. And that, based on the available evidence showing a

strong connection between vitamin D, infections, and immune function in

children, vitamin D supplementation may be a valuable therapy in pediatric

medicine.

now if only we knew exactly how much to take. Dr. Mercola says to get our levels

checked, but that can change depending on how much sun we get which also

changes. And do we take more when we have the flu and how long can we take a

" lot " without affecting our blood levels of it negatively. I know babies need

about 300-400IU a day and I'm taking 2000 now but.....
