Guest guest
We made our first batch on Tuesday - without experienced guidance it maybe is a little well cooked but very good nonetheless. Somehow I had it in my mind it might turn into an avaleha (herbal jam) though clearly the recipe is much simpler, that's very valuable. When might we choose a Shatavari avaleha over this recipe? Nomi asked the question, what to do for lactation support if Mama is kinda heavy, sticky, ama laden body channels, especially low agni. She wondered if using vidari kanda (relative of wild yam) would serve her better. Adjustments to the shatavari kalpa alone may be made, adding ginger or pippali. This mama if kapha body type normally is more likely to be an abundant milk producer anyway, but if not - I haven't worked with yam or vidari this way and we are curious. Certainly would think of it for Mama tending towards gall bladder/fat metabolism issues. As shatavari is more estrogenic in nature (even though acting with various hats depending upon body's needs) and vidari and wild yam are more inclined for progesterone, even though sometimes used for lactation support, my hormonal intelligence in western thinking leaves some questions hanging too.
