Namaste - Ysha Rocky Mountain Institute of Yoga and Ayurveda 303 499 2910 Study Ayurvedic Medicine this fall semester: Ayurvedic Medicine I (3 cr.) Sat-Mon 12:30-6:30 Sept 12-14 and 26-28. Assessment of Ayurvedic Constitution (prakrti) and current imbalances(vikrti), Pulse and Tongue diagnosis; Ayurvedic Diet and Nutrition; 80 basic herbs, spices, medicinal oils; simple home remedies for common ailments; Ayurvedic Anatomy and Physiology; Cleansing Practices and daily and seasonal routines for health; the Ayurvedic basis of Yoga practices. Instructor: Dr. Sarasvati Buhrman, Ph.D. Preparation of Ayurvedic Herbs (3 cr.) Oct 2-4 and 10-12 Fri-Sun 12:30-6:30 Hands-on training in methods of collecting, preparing, and purifying common plants and mineral substances, cough syrups, and salves, and different methods of preparing medicinal oils, alcohols, etc (Prerequisite: Ayurvedic Medicine I). Instructor: Dr. Bharat Vaidya, B.A.M.S., M.D. OCT 3-11 500 Yoga teacher Training ***classes can be taken separately as CEU's for 200 hour Yoga Teachers OCT 16-30 AYURVEDIC POSTPARTM CARE ***prerequisite Ayurvedic Medicine I Nov 14-16 and 21-23. Ayurvedic Medicine II: Assessment and Treatment of Common Disorders (3 cr.) Sat-Mon 12:30-6:30 Introduction to Ayurvedic patient assessment and dietary and herbal interventions for patients who have 1) simple ailments such as many respiratory and digestive disorders or 2) already diagnosed common medical conditions. (Prerequisite: Ayurvedic Medicine I) Working with Western Medicine (2 cr.): Sat-Mon Fri-Sun 12:30-6:30 Dec dates to be announced . Taught by two medical physicians, this course focuses on the following issues: forming productive referral relationships with western medical practitioners, red-flag symptoms in patients which mandate medical referral, interpreting common medical tests, and drug-herb interactions. (Prerequisite: Ayurvedic Medicine I and II) Instructors: Dr. John O'Hearn, Ph.D., and Dr. Bharat Vaidya, M.D. Certification: Each of these courses is a required part of the National Ayurvedic Medical Association-approved 1050-hour practitioners' certification training program in Ayurvedic Medicine and Yoga Therapy offered by the Rocky Mountain Institute of Yoga and Ayurveda.
