(please note: The prerequisites for this training are knowledge of Ayurvedic concepts of dosha, dhatu, mala, agni & am, diet and lifestyle, and Ayurvedic herbology. Those not having this prerequisite may begin the program by taking Ayurvedic Medicine I, offered July 10-13, in intensive, residential format) * JULY 14, 15 Women's Health Care through Ayurveda Dr. Sarasvati Buhrman, Ph.D. The health of women throughout the cycles of their lives from menarche to elder years. Health issues such as PMS, regularizing the menstrual cycle and alleviating cramps, yeast infections, ovarian cysts, peri- and menopausal problems, and maintaining health in elder years. (2 days) * JULY 16, 17 Yoga Asanas for Women's Health Shar Lee, CYT 40 years and Hansa Knox The first day will explore Yoga asanas specific to women's health issues. The second day will focus on instruction in prenatal and postpartum Yoga. * JULY 18 Ayurveda and Mens' Health Gary Tremain Specific topics relating to men's emotional make-up and reproductive health will be discussed in detail in this seminar, including maintaining ojas and health of shukra dhatu , sexual debility, male fertility, enlarged prostate and prostate cancer, and other diseases of the male reproductive tract. (1 day) * JULY 19 Problems of Fertility, Conception, and Pregnancy Terra Rafael ,registered midwife What steps should a couple take in order to insure a healthy child, and what measures are available in Ayurvedic medicine for those who have difficulty conceiving? Ayurvedic approaches to common and serious problems occurring during pregnancy, delivery, and postpartum. (1 day) * JULY 20, 21, 22 Gerontology Dr. Bharat Vaidya, B.A.M.S., M.D. (3 days) The processes of aging, as understood by Ayurveda and Western Medicine, the general uses of rasayana to maintain health, and treatments for specific diseases of aging. * JULY 23, 24 Ayurveda for Infants and Children Dr. Sarita Shrestha, B.A.M.S, M.D.(ob.gyn) Herbs and medicines considered appropriate for infants and children for different illnesses and suitable ways to administer medicines. Basic nutrition and health measures, which promote resistance to many child hood diseases, will be discussed. * JULY 25 Infectious Illnesses of Women Dr. Sarita Shrestha, B.A.M.S, M.D.(ob.gyn) This one day seminar will address preventative measures and Ayurvedic interventions which can help in treating STDs, vaginal infections, PID, aids, etc. * JULY 26 Cancers in Women Dr. Sarita Shrestha, B.A.M.S, M.D.(ob.gyn) (1 day) Ayurvedic understandings of various cancers which afflict women, and Ayurvedic measures which can be taken to assist in preventing and managing such diseases.
