Guest guest
Dear group members, My husband and I are planning having a baby. We would like to talk to an Ayur Doula/MidWife in the area. Please provide information about any in the area. Thank you, Dhara
Guest guest
Hi Dhara - WHen are you due? There are a few Ayurdoula students who live in the SF bay area, not sure about SJ or Santa Cruz at this time. EMail me privately your phone, due date, location etc and I'll send out a note to them? Ayurdoulas (at) gmail Please also see http://sacredwindow.com/Care-From_a_Distance . You might want to make some phone calls to Ayurdoulas on the list here http://sacredwindow.com/Care-Find_a_Doula#ca and enquire about a doula from a distance. The internet will serve you well searching for midwives and birth doulas in the area - I'd suggest going to the websites for DONA.org, ALACE.org and though I forget the midwifery site names they are easy to find by state and area - for home birth or CNMs . Guest guest
Ysha- Do you know of any postpartum doulas in San Diego area? I would really like to hire someone local to do mother baby for me if possible and my regular lady isn't too available. Also, at what point would you start using claraderm for perinneum massage prior to birth? Are there any other oils and things you'd reccomend to prepare that area? Thanks! Guest guest
Hi NItya - I " m forgetting your due date? I don't think I know anyone there - possibly LA area, and possibly our mutual friend Aparna, " the MIstress of Spice " who used to do that work there knows someone. Also call Joannie Poole (on the find an Ayurdoula list for Iowa) for referrals in San Diego, she may have trained someone in the mother's abhyanga. Your other option is if someone wants to spend some time hands on with me (or Sonya in Boulder, Uma in N. Carolina, or Gaura in Florida) and do home study, combined, before your birth, you might work out an arrangement for reduced care rate while they practice their new skills on you and are in close phone contact with me. I'll post in the files section more explanation on this kind of option. It is the current understanding that perineal preparation is most effective the last couple months of pregnancy. I suggest the Claraderm mostly for postpartum perineal healing and favor something more thickly unctuous, even sesame or coconut oil, before that. I would add some geranium essential oil to it. The midwives may have more suggestions. There is a very good discussion of perineal massage and several women's experiences in the PTEO (perinatal uses of essential oils) AyurDoula training unit I think you have it? Do a search (hold control key and F key) with keywords to explore the document on your computer. Works better than an index! Love, Ysha > Ysha- Do you know of any postpartum doulas in San Diego area? Guest guest
Thanks so much! Those are great ideas. I will check around some more and see if anyone would be interested in doing the training too.
