Guest guest
Hello Yashtimadhu is also used as vamanopaga (herbs that help in vaman, as adjuvant). Vaman (induced vomiting) is useful treatment modality for kapha dosha. Kapha normally increases during Vasanta Ritu (spring season). Kapha dosha which is accumulated during winter " melts " during spring season giving rise to many kapha ailments. This can be clearly observed here in India (because of distinct season changes). Hence, we perform lots of vaman treatments every year during this season, i.e., during late March, April, and early May. Melted kapha is rather easy to be pulled out of the system as opposed to the “solidified kapha.” Recently, I gave a Vaman treatment to a 15-year-old girl for obesity. She is one of those who put on weight even if they eat relatively small amounts of food. Although, her diet consisted of excessive use of groundnut and Oil as a cause of kapha vitiation. I gave her stomachful of yashtimadhu decoction, she took about 2 liters. This was followed Madanaphala pulp. The results were spectacular. After the usual waiting period of about 20 minutes, she vomited great amount of “sticky kapha,” actually lumps of it. This kapha could be the cause of the ‘tendency to put on weight. Yashti madhu kwatha is palatable due to sweet taste, but may give rise to nausea after a few gulps. For regular use, my guru always used yashtimadhu in very little quantity (100 mg twice daily or so). Dr. Thite
Guest guest
Namastye Dr. Thite and group members; This is good understanding not only as the details are of interest to me, but when using licorice (yastimadhu) by adding a little for sweetness to a baby's medicine (the St. John's wort we talked about for instance) care must be taken and too much would be much less than for an adult. Little ones may vomit from multiple causes and this is good to remember,it would rule out first cause as allergy or innapropriateness of the other herb, or some other source. A welcome to new vaidya he/she calls self a student of Ayurveda, please introduce yourself here? Dr. Shaliniy.
