Guest guest
What foods " make " mucous, and what may make the body prone to rash? This is part 1 of article written for my family forum and in the shift from doing Mom's primary care to her live-in caregiver's return last weekend. All can see she is doing better, and are wondering why, how? (Please any students listening, consider this a bonus question: which suggestions here are not appropriate in the first 4-8 weeks after childbirth? We don't want any mistaken ideas floating around; this is general ayurvedic concept below, though mostly applicable.) .... It is an interesting discussion. My " logic " or choices that have worked well often (not always at least not yet) with Mom are not quickly explained in a paragraph or recipe. So if this interests, read on, this will come in sections instead of the whole " article " I've put together today. Please understand this is shared not in terms of anyone being wrong, that isn't how it works! Rather to grow together and work together to whatever extent anyone is interested. With decades of fragile health, I've had to look deeper, you can't afford health care for things that change so often anyway! Some have asked questions or suggested I share my " tricks " , and Mom's live-in caregiver wants written format, especially recipes to help with the translation into her native tongue. Often she is interested in the biological logic. The good news is, one rarely has to sacrifice deliciousness or satisfaction to get a turnaround. We may see results quickly, symptomatically, with the right change. The not so good news is, we obviously sometimes loose our motivation to remove the cause. It is generally not one simple bandaid to correct the cause, though it may be. And, being creatures of habit, culture, community, and attachments, often the changes that take some doing to accept, and in any case, make lasting results with, may take some time. Even when the tastes are quite satisfiable, if served what is truely needed, the mind may say, like Mom, " I don't like cereal " and then proceed to eat a huge bowl full of something by same name she usually pushes away. Did I tell? One day she ate half a bowl of her dreaded oatmeal prepared (roasted et al) differently, before even touching her dearly beloved bacon! but nutrition and satisfaction, by the tastes is another fascinating journey to talk another time. Re Mom's rash issue – I don't believe this is resolved yet, and liver overloading to skin is not a quick fix on probable cause level. Even if steriods or whatever supports are involved, cause level has not been well addressed and can manifest again and again. Even with allergens such as animal fur, dust, or foods, much bears discussing here. It is all, or mostly, about BALANCE, and digestion, more than anything else, not usually black/white concepts – please read this between the lines in the next few posts. Allergies or dis-ease, even when found in the DNA, can also be addressed at least to some good extent, in the digestive system and with essential oils, very interesting report. Because we come from a pioneer founded country, much such practical " kitchen medicine " from original cultures went out with the political rinse water. And much depth of healing wisdom systems has not had chance to accumulate – you do what you gotta do today as then, and call on what cultural and medical wisdom you can garner. So, next up, Pathogenesis or 6 Stages of Disease Manifestation. This is good, I'll have articles for others too. Sounds like time to get myself up and running on I-contact or the likes, somehow!
