It's highly unlikely that he is teething and how would she know if he was.

Drooling starts months and months before teeth appear. If he has one actually

pushing through the gums on the lower front, that would be interesting.

PerinatalAyurveda forum teething at 8 weeks?!?

Namaskar Group,

A mom wrote me today saying she suspects her eight WEEK old is teething. I

have another

mom in my practice who had mentioned her baby began teething at three months.

I did not

know this was possible.

Any comments, insights, etc.?

Respectfully,

Hi Vicky,

Thanks for your reply. This too was my thought. She said she feels bulges at

his gums, but she did not say the tooth/teeth were beginning to push through.

The eight week old has had lots of mucous in his sinuses since birth. She

reports he is currently going through cycles where this is more and she notices

the bulges in his gums, thus is saying perhaps he is teething. It does not seem

possible to me. Yet, when this was the second recent report in my practice I

decided to inquire among my colleagues.

Sincerely,

Yeah, babies are always sniffly and mucousy the first couple of months and moms

often think they have colds or something, the ped is never concerned. But 'I'm

99.9% sure it's not teething.

Thank you, Vicky. That too is my feeling. I was with a baby yesterday who is

only two days younger than the one the mom says is teething and I just could not

imagine it possible for the baby to be teething. Thank you for your

correspondence.
