Guest guest
A little conversation between me and Ysha some of you might be interested in. Start at the bottom and read up. I honestly can't say whether I've seen the growth spurt hit at 5 or 6 weeks most, Ysha. They so often don't keep me that long now that people use me more for a lact. consult. than as a doula. I have seen that mothers get, not so much depressed at the growth spurts, as discouraged. I think it is because the growth spurts make the babies seem demanding and unsatisfied and that kind of scares mothers into thinking they don't have enough milk and can't satisfy their babies. And the 3 week growth spurt is more pronounced than the 10 one in my experience. I " ve seen the 10 days, 3 weeks and 5 weeks thing come up very consistently, but always wondered what they were after that! THanks! Have you noticed it more 6 weeks than 5, or both? It is what I was taught, and confirmed by my client experience and by a NC midwife who tells all her clients " every mother gets depressed at this time. Just hit the bed and nurse nurse nurse, and it will be over soon " something like that. Of course, my common with her client didn't get depressed at 10 days as the midwife had predicted *-) The only time I've seen it different is sometimes after a C or premies, it may be delayed a bit. Most likely the other goup members will be interested in this conversation too - feel free to post it. Love, Ysha On Wed, Jun 11, 2008 at 8:48 PM, <vmyork wrote: Ysha. My understanding has been that the growth spurts are 3 weeks, 6 weeks, 3 months, and 6 months. Wonder what they really are and what you base yours on. Is your old e-mail address still good, ayurdoulas?
