Summer Ayurvedic Medicine

Family Health Intensive July 24-31

featuring renowned Nepali physician Sarita Shrestha

 

(prerequisite course: Ayurvedic Medicine I offered June 13-16, or

equivalent)

 

* July 24-24: Ayurveda for Infants and Children Dr. Sarita Shrestha,

B.A.M.S, M.D.(ob.gyn)

 

Ayurvedic medicine treats infants and children quite gently. This

seminar will explore herbs and medicines which are considered

appropriate for infants and children as well as suitable ways to

administer medicines. Basic nutrition and health measures which

promote resistance to many child hood diseases will be discussed

 

*July 26- 27: Women's Health Care through Ayurveda Dr. Sarasvati

Buhrman, Ph.D.

This seminar explores the health of women throughout the cycles of

their lives from menarche to elder years. We will address health

issues such as PMS, regularizing the menstrual cycle and alleviating

cramps,

yeast infections, ovarian cysts, cancers, and other disorders of the

reproductive tract, peri- and menopausal problems, and maintaining

health in elder years.

 

*July 28: Yoga Asanas for Women's Health Shar Lee, CYT

Instruction in prenatal and postpartum Yoga and special Yoga asanas

for women's health.

 

*July 29- 30: Problems of Fertility, Conception, and Pregnancy Sarita

Shrestha, M.D.(ob.gyn)

What steps should a couple take in order to insure a healthy child,

and what measures are available in Ayurvedic medicine for those who

have difficulty conceiving? Ayurvedic approaches to common and serious

problems occurring during pregnancy, delivery, and postpartum.

 

* July 31: Ayurveda and Mens' Health Gary Tremain

Specific topics relating to men's emotional make-up and reproductive

health will gbe discussed in detail in this seminar, including

maintaining ojas and health of shukra dhatu , sexual debility, male

fertility, enlarged prostate and prostate cancer, problems of aging,

and other diseases of the male reproductive tract.
