for years I got them and then found out I was allergic to eggs and when I

stopped eating them the bladder infections ended. So allergies might be a

culprit.

Hi Vicki - Eggs give many very high acidity and pitta also, which can

manifest in a weaker area as inflammation, infection ... allergies by

Ayurveda tend to be something in digestive and self-purification

stages that is weak too.

Diluted 1/2 water, unsweetened pineapple juice that has been cooked

with the core is much gentler on the postpartum vata, helps many on

its own. As you are noting, instead of bitter/astringent it is

sweet/sour, 2 of the three vata reducing tastes.

Instead of the bitter/astringent intensity, alkalyzing green veg soups

sound better for that piece, and more green veg and dhals, roasted

barley or quinoa instead of basmati perhaps things like this. Barley

and azuki bean (soak and cook very well) has some affinity to urinary

support, also leaning more into coriander, cumin, fennel.

I personally like the ayurvedic herb gokesura; unlike the other

urinary support herbs it is a rasayana, (rejuv tonic) and doesn't

create the drying astringency most diuretics do. The urinary system

feels like silk with its gentle demulcence alongside rejuv and

cleansing properties. Bland enough, like burdock, can be included in

soup.

With infection, last I studied with Saraswati Buhrman her favorite

herb combo was mahasudarshan with brahmi. Mahasudarshan of course

being " 40 bitter herbs " some call it (not exactly true), nonetheless

it is a strong bitter. It will be interesting to see what the vaidyas

say.

Sometimes one has to take a " medicine " that is not doshic balancing to

eliminate the invading organism; I'd certainly be balancing with

something like pippali to protect her already fragile agni. Guduchi

comes to mind in this case, not sure why, for the formula. Perhaps

being a blood cleanser that doesn't taste bitter, and like gokesura is

to diuretics, this in the blood cleansing collection is unusual also

being a rasayana herb. Burdock probably would support here too. As

Mothers can't move around and keep circulaton going, and if she has

fever massage is contraindicated, the blood/lymph herbs are likely to

support, and burdock also has some gentle ness to the tissues and

gentle grounding as a root.

I've found that it's the egg yokes that create too much heat, and

aggravate my pita. However, I can eat the whites and feel good.

Hello,

UTI is mostly associated with pitta symptoms. In addition to gokshur as

mentioned by Ysha, use of cumin + coriander seeds is prevalent here. Take

one teaspoon of each, grind a little, add 250 ml of normal temparature

water, let it stand for 6 hours. Take this water two to three times daily.

Gives excellent results. This combination has some diurectic effect and

also helps digestion. Also chandan (sandlewood) is used either in the form

of powder or asava.
