You know me, I'd say consult with Dr. Bhate, or Thite, or one of the

Ayurvedic physicians who know their stuff. In the meantime, if you

work with clients in this regard, these discussions are also wise to

take alook at, to be able to handle both questions in their own terms,

on allopathic/pharmacological issues, and to know the seriousness,

side effects, etc and risks of professionally guiding someone off SSRI

use. Many feel 2 months is enough time. Please look here; without

skilled Ayurveda and I don't know, maybe with - inviting comment here

- the advice is minimum 6 months to ensure safety. Please do not

underestimate this, there is no way I can advocate coming off these

without physician or nurse practitioner's support unless trained at

same time in another equivalent system of medicine.

Postpartum depression (all mood disorders being lumped under that name

in the news) as well as the negatives around antidepressant use is

bigger in the news now and people want help more than ever. Many are

making plans in early pregnancy - some for antidepressants as

" preventatives " ! and others to find really good postpartum support.

A birth doula with an 18 doula practice in LA told me that they had

been receiving many requests from clients for natural methods. Of

course, this is way beyond their scope of practice as CDs. She said

when hunting the LA area resources, all she could find for an

inservice for her team was psychology, hypnotism, accupuncture and

flower essence type things. She felt the lack strongly, and was so

grateful to have me come do a workshop for them.

Warm Regards;

Ysha
