Guest guest
I have a client whose baby has jaundice and has for 3 weeks. Her bilirubin count is 12.9 and declines but not much and actually went back up a tad in a week. Would the infant massage be good to do or would it stir up too many toxins in a little body already taxed by the jaundice. I have told the mom that I think she should see John Doulliard for liver support and she will be seeing him on Tuesday. Any advice is greatly appreciated. Thankyou, Sonya
Guest guest
And lots of breastmilk and sunlight should help. 3 wks is a long time. Vicky
Guest guest
Hi Sonya; In addition to the sunlight and such i'm sure you all have been working with, after referring up to this outside of your scope of practice item, as you have done, I'd pull out your notes on essential oils and reread that story about the jaundiced baby and it's amazing results with specific essential oil application and the enemas. How often has this baby been having bowel movements? It may be different cause and I too will look forward to what Dr. John has to say. Sarita and Dr. Lad have talked about giving newborns a linctus (lickable preparation of herbs, very small amount) of herb with we can say in this country, maybe agave or some such unctuous sweet, certainly not the usual honeys in use - enough to make palatable perhaps guduchi, one or more of the liver/blood cleansing herbs, for other liver issues so this makes sense here and if it was my baby, that is what I'd do. Dosage and frequency is not my background to say for another. I'd also be using essential oils beneficial for liver, what do you have? The Release blend comes first to mind, which includes geranium and chamomile in it. Bitter sweet ones, topical over the liver, dilute slightly. Can be layered with castor oil and heat compress to drive oils/draw toxins. 12.9 is within the considered safe range, I think it is 15 or higher when the docs want to take over. But of course, too high for too long. I personally would think the massage supportive to all systems including circulation and elimination, at least if the bowel is moving properly and enough wet diapers/breast milk etc. A little more turmeric in mom's intake, in fenugreek and ginger tea also comes to mind for Mom, with more focus on the succulent green veggies. THat's my educated logical guesses for supports, but there may be issues we don't know about inhibiting baby's breakdown of those wastes so it is good to get more trained help also.
