Guest guest
Greetings ones, I just took the recommendation from Yasha to look over the past messages posted on the forum and read the unassisted homebirth message form Laura Shanley and now I feel comfortable in discussing this issue on this forum. My husband I birthed our fifth child together unassisted two years ago and are preparing to do so again for our new one coming in May. Panama seems to be twenty years behind as far as childbirth. I am not sure how it is in private hospitals but I have heard bad stories from birthing women of public (affordable) hospitals . Also there is no option here as far as home birth goes, don't get me wrong there are Pateras (midwives in spanish) but most are indeginous or country folks who service there local community and outside of that homebirth is for the poor. According to the clinic down the street form us once a women has a baby at home she is required to come to the hospital for a 48 hour observation seperate from her new baby. I declinded and it took us eight months to get a birth certificate for our daughter. So we will avoid alot of stress this time and birth our baby here in our home and do what all country folks do and bring witnesses to register the baby for her birh certificate. So here is my call for ideas I am completley comfortable with my body and have always birhed my babies the way I have needed to with or without an attendant but not every women feels the same way and I see an desperate need to help give women the option of also birthing their babies with or without attendant here in Panama. This is where the idea of an doula comes in, introducing doulas to the Panamanian public as an start to the dire need for an birth revolution. What does everyone think about this and how should this probelm be tackled? I know it has little, or at least not an direct connection to Ayurveda but I am interested to hear what people here on this forum think. Thank you for any replies and or ideas, In the Light Jahmanna
