Hi everyone,

My name is Rebecca Vann, I live in Asheville, NC and have been a

student of Ysha's years past.

I used to be fairly active on this list until a couple years ago....

I was just beginning to put my services " out there " in my community as

a postpartum doula and herbalist towards the end of 2004 when I became

pregnant with my second son. I cared for a few clients the spring of

2005 and eventually came to the realization I could not do this work at

that time. My pregnancy was tough, my life was high stress and we

moved houses in my 6th month of pregnancy, so you all can imagine the

domino effect from there. A few more details of my past and I will get

to the point, promise! Once we moved, Hurricaine Katrina happened and

my close friend/former client and her family (husband, 1 yo daughter, 2

cats and 2 dogs) evacuated to our home, only to slowly find out they

had no home to return to. 5 days after their arrival, my son was born..

The energy in my home was intense to say the least.

Fast forward....crazy intense birth (almost lost the baby), long stay

in hospital, 6 months trouble nursing, housefull at home and no

postpartum care (my guests did the best they could to help but they

were in their own trauma/drama)

But no skilled postpartum care (unlike my first son I had Tovia and

Ysha here), things were crazy,

and I got mad. A feeling which sprialed for quite a while.

" How can I be this one in the community who cares and nurtures women

postparum and have no help when I need it the most? " I would think to

myself time and time again. And I knew I would have to heal that

mindset before I could return to this work.

I certainly dealt with undiagnosed postpartum depression and was on a

very intense journey the first year and a half of my baby's life.

Fast forward a little more to now......

The fog finally lifted, as did my spirits and my abiltiy to see that I

must have had to go thru all that to fully understand what women go thru

during postpartum depression and nursing troubles and everything NOT

going perfectly (which is what my first sons birth and postpartum time

was like, not perfect, but NOT nearly as many challenges).

So here I am now and I am ready to nurture my women again.

I had my first client in almost 3 years a few weeks ago. And it was

wonderful!!

I recently met one of Ysha's other former students from Boulder (Sarah

Gralnick) and we have decided to do this work together.

She came with me to that clients home and the whole session was so

smooth and beautiful. It was so amazing to share that space with this

new mama and her feedback was nothing short of validating exactly why i

was drawn to this work in the first place.

So my point in all of this is to let you all know, at least those of

you that remember me, that I AM BACK....

To those that don't, I wanted to introduce myself, since you will be

hearing more from me!

I look forward to learning more and sharing...it seems there are alot

of new members which is wonderful.

Thank you Ysha for continuing to hold such a sacred space for these

many light workers to share in their magic and healing.

Many Blessings and Be Well,

Rebecca Vann

Hi Rebecca, welcome back, I remember you! Postpartum depression alone would be

enough to knock you back for awhile. It could very well have magnified all the

rest of it. I'm sorry you had to go through that. You will be a more

compassionate, understanding and knowledgeable doula for it. But you will need

counseling and validation for some time; I hope you have someone you can talk

to.

Dearest Rebecca;

I'm SO happy to hear from you again! Oh my, I knew there was a rough

time, but hmm, guess you ansered it why you didn't get in touch

more...I certainly had a lot of lessons like this to experience

earlier in my life, and undoubtedly still.

If you can send me a picture of Sara, I'd love to remember who she

is...working in a team is the best, in many ways giving so much more

smoothness and stability to both the care and the AyurDoula's experience.

Welcome Back, with Love!

Ysha
