full and hard breasts) have her put hot packs on her breasts before nursing to

help the milk let down.

another idea, which is ideal if to have the mother go to bed with the baby and

do nothing but eat, sleep and nurse the baby whenever he seems interested which

might be every 45 minutes. But she has to learn to get a good latch in the lying

down position. Perhaps a woman near you can help her with that. If she has sore

nipples, or if the baby isn't gaining 1/2 ounce a day or so you should go see a

hospital lactation consultant, as Sonya said. Keep us informed as you go. Each

day postpartum is a new day.
