Guest guest
Sounds like a TOTAL body cleanse would be in order. Guest guest
Hello Dear Friends, I met a woman yesterday that had a baby three months ago. She's gone back to work and is using a pump for " milk production. " This is not as easy for her as breast feeding the baby. Are there any recommendations on how she can increase her milk production? Her massage therapist recommended taking fenugreek capsules. Thank you so much for your help. xo Patti -- Patti Garland Ayurvedic Chef and LifeStyle Coach Bliss Kitchen http://www.BlissKitchen.com (760) 902-7020
Guest guest
Dear Patti; Consider this for anyone, and especially postpartum women even months out who have not done proper rejuvenation in the early weeks whose tissues are more dry and tender. Taking a hard dry herb, even in power form, inside a gel or vegetable capsule, the body often feels intense dryness as these things dissolve, and whats more, often the moisture cakes the outer layer and may or may not dissove/hydrate the herb once the capsule is dissolved. Probably these capsules work best for very kapha women, by the way. Ayurvedic " pills " called vati are pressed tablets, te good ones have been decocted and dried so they are more potent and more bioavalable. Strong fenugreek tea, carrieed in thermous to work probably 2-3 cups daily, will serve her much better. Or part fennel, part fenugreek, depending upon her doshas and digestion. (Fenugreek haveing some heat and bitterness, fennel sweet and a little diuretic, both gently supportive of digestion. Strong cup 1 tsp herbs/steeped covered 5-10 minutes, or just pour boiling water over the herbs in thermous, eat the seeds or add to vegetables/soup sometimes.) Even more effective usually is to add shatavari as both galactagogue and supporting female hormonal strength and rejuvenation; it would combine nicely with these herbs unless she also needs stronger agni (digestive fire) support. Probably a shatavarikalpa (herbal paste with carriers like honey, ghee and other herbs in addition) would be very supportive now too. I think Ayurvedic Institute in ALB, or US Kerala Ayurveda carry these. Ysha > I met a woman yesterday that had a baby three months ago.
