Guest guest
sir Usually oil vasthies are safe from 7 th day. But it can also affect agni negatively. If we are not sure about the mother better wait or use it and use pachakolachurna internally simultaneously Dear Anand; Thank you for this. Can you translate for us what pachakolachurna is? Some kind of herbal powder (churna) and pachak has something to do with a pitta subdosha? But most of us here do not know what this all means, and we may have to translate into herbs available here so if you are able to discuss briefly the properties of this churna many thanks. How might oil basti/vasthi be a negative effect on agni? We use such small amount (1/3 cup or so)prepared with bala herb usually. On occasion when not available or distention from gas is significant, we add an essential oil or two in small amounts. By the way, most of us here, self included, are women practitioners, although we are fortunate to have several male vaidyas in this kind attendence. We would be grateful to hear your introduction also! I was taught to do 7 in the first 10 days. But it seems to me if the focus from days 10 - 21 is grounding, the end of the cleansing days (when Mom is able to even think about doing this " new " thing) and carrying into the grounding days this would be most valuable. Guest guest
PS - THis certainly makes more sense to the sequence of the mother's needs. Gratefully; Ysha > > Usually oil vasthies are safe from 7 th day.
Guest guest
When we do enema, it does not directly affect the agni as for food or drugs given in the oral rout. But it influences and controls vatha and digestion is also dependent on vatha. When oil enema is done continuously and indiscriminately, the snighthatha (oilyness) at the site of vatha increases and beyond a particular level it creates dullness by reducing or blocking the movements of vatha. A diccoction enema on the other hand increases or restores vatha in its location. So usually oil enema and diccocction enema are done one after another in contious succession for several days. Such a thing may not be necessory when no serious health problems are present. The oil enema dose is usually fixed as 1/4 th of the quantity of the diccoction enema. But when done for healthy persons and for when planns to do as a daily routine, We can have a reduced dose. 50 ml is a popular daily dose of Such enemas done all over Kerala. Such small quantity daily enemas are called Maathara vasthy. This does not usually make any troubles of agni. If it makes use Pungent drugs or foods to get relieved from it. Panchakola is a group of 5 pungent (katurasa) taste drugs. They are Ginger, small pepper (pippali), the roots of small pepper, roots of usual pepper, and the plumbago roots (chithrak). - anand p k v ayurveda Thursday, June 27, 2002 12:57 AM Re: PerinatalAyurveda forum basti (oil enema) timing after birth question sir Usually oil vasthies are safe from 7 th day.
