Dear Friends;

This conversation was recently posted on an essential oils forum, with

several good ideas and results reported including via an Indian doc.

on probiotics in case it's a yeast issue, but other than that she's

not attempted any sort of treatment. My thoughts are that she should

Hi Melissa,

While I have not dealt with that specifically, I would recomend

Melrose (a blend with tea trea). It will tingle, but not burn,

although you could dilute it in a carrier oil if you are worried. My 4

year old daughter gets a red inflamed bottom (her doc says she's just

not cleaning well), and Melrose provides relief as well as healing. I

love Melrose, and it helps with yeast infections too.

Good Luck!

Melissa,

This happened to one of my grandsons. An ER doc from India taught my

daughter-in-law some interesting things. He said inflammation is

common in the uncircumcised because it takes several years for the

penis to develop to the point the skin can fully pull back. (hope that

is worded clearly). He taught her to soak a Q-tip in Peroxide and

gently swab the inside whenever it swells. This helps clean the area.

She uses oils on her children and chose to apply lavender - this helps

right away with discomfort and swelling!! She has dealt with her

next 2 sons the same way. Hope I explained this well enough.

Good Evening,

Thank you Rebecca and Arlene for the great suggestions. My friend

turned out to be a very inventive Mommy. Here is what she did that

seems to be working:

She has been giving her five year old probiotics (in powder form) for

2.5 days now and pushing fluids. She thinks the turning point for him

was when she decided to make a liquidy paste out of the powder and

apply it directly to the penis. After his nightly shower she had him

pull the foreskin down as much as he could (you could only see a small

hole going down to the head) and tried putting as much as possible

down there. She reapplied every now and then for about 5 minutes.

Then amazingly this evening he informed her that the foreskin can now

withdraw all of the way down. She's still going to continue the

internal probiotics until all his discomfort is gone.

I forwarded both of your emails to her in case the little guy has any

more trouble. I thank you both for taking the time to offer up

suggestions.

Happy Oiling,

Melissa

Hi All - My first thought among the essential oils was the melaleuca

ericafolia, being more skin and mucuous membrane kind, gentle and will

some of the anti-fungal properties just not as intense as the regular

tea tree. Then (organic of course) lavender, being also

antimicrobial, gentle, antiinflammatory and analgesic - with slight

dilution of castor or coconut oil. THis mama's idea was really

intelligent, and please thank you/her for sharing her method and

results. I would expect a good quality yoghurt or kefir, as is used

sometimes for vaginal yeast, might also be valuable - anyone know?
