Dear Friends;

Dr. Bhate has responded to two posts on the ayurveda forum on

this subject - message 5621 gives very good intro/assessment and cause

discussion. More recently ,

http://health.ayurveda/message/8796.

You may want to bear in mind that for most comfortable address to

parasites, sometimes we can adjust a formula or protocol wisely to the

seasonal influences. Antiparasitics, mostly bitter, are very cooling

and drying. In vata/cold dry weather many of us have now, we want to

attend to appropriate balancing. Spring time in the US is the

classical good time for cleanses, though if symptoms bother now, we

have to address whenever.

For instance, use of pumpkin seeds generously in the diet is mild

antiparasitic, oily, nourishing, balancing to the dry bitters. Garlic

is heating, strongly antiparasitic, with all tastes but one giving

influence. Sesame oil or delicious pumpkin seed oil in small amounts

is mild antiparasitic, better than ghee/butter/coconut or olive.

Useing our ayurvedic understanding of the properties is wise mothering

and kitchen medicine.

As often happens, various preparations mentioned in Dr. Bhate's posts

are not easily available here, please do not be disheartened. Ask for

explanations when it is not clear to you, and for options when

something is not available, or where to get. There are many ayurvedic

herbs available in the US. We don't always remember to give such

needed detail for every member new to Ayurveda. Many of us US

practitioners are not familiar also with some of the recommendations,

don't feel alone!

You will find in the files section a document this author collected

some years ago. Any commentary or discussion is welcome.

Warm Regards;

Ysha
