Guest guest
Dear Friends; This is discussion on one of Janel's hosted forums where main topic of discusson was around influence also of cord clamping. some Ayurvedic and other thoughts in response to his excellent post there (See at http://health.SafeBabyResolution/message/39 ) Actually, I believe he is lurking with us too now... Dear Jamie and Rich, Rich's assessment of the big picture has so much wisdom! ANd I really feel the SSRI and depression discussions have much to show us. There are factors also understood by Ayurvedic medicine around the brain fnctions impeded by weakened AAAAAH for life, which becomes among other things just like Rich was talking, a brain chemistry response also. It is of great interest to me also, understanding the cmoplications of the SSRI medicines, which interfere with the body's METABOLISM of serotonin which is why there is too much even after the body says, ok, got it for the moment. But something else happens - the excess or is it the excess SSRI meds? become a hard slimy coating on the brain glands and other places, obscuring proper multitasking or tasking at all of the various receptor sites for neuro/hormonal communications. Hence the feeling often reported of being " possessed " . You bet! But one of the things I believe has not been looked at yet is comparing some side effects of stress hormones - chronically high cortisol also,(per Gary Young, ND/soon to be MD so he can be respected for his true wisdom and research with natural medicine) creates a slime on the brain glands...and the SSRI's for instance one standard Prozak dose doubles cortisol levels, according to Ann Blake Tracey of drugawareness.org. Compare that to three cups of coffee or the avg american white sugar/fructose intake daily which just holds cortisol at a daily high for 18 hours instead of body being able to come back to what is it called, anabolic or catabolic? function. Value of comparisons, back to first sentance this paragraph ... not to weaken the battle against SSRIs, mind you!!! but to begin to see how much similar slime etc chemistry is going on in the woman (or man, or child) already depressed... Per my understanding from Ayurvedic medicine, cause of depression particularly postpartum is YES of course look to the whole terrain, but we find Mom's digestive fire /multiple enzyme functions are very weak, Whether from poor diet, stress, grieving, meds, or other causes, a central contributing one is that the digestive fires tend to get put out/blown out we could say with the " wind " or energy flow bodies use for childbirth. So, mothers need digestive babying in spite of major extra nutritional needs. Midwives, doctors alike are not aware of this. Gas, bloating, even constipation are not looked at as central indicators of systemic imbalancing fallout. > >Low serotonin is often implicated in depression and if the mother > Some babies have actually gone through SSRI withdrawl (including > seizures) after birth. Yet medical authorities still maintain ... Yes, and oh my God! Have you seen the correlation also with SSRI chemistry and LSD? Rich, do you have the reseasrch citation for this? Most easily found on the net is reports saying no problems reported. Right, ya sure. > to produce in court shows that SSRI's also cause a dieback of the > the dendrites in the brain (the compensation effect) and they've > never bothered to find out whether this effect is permanent, at My belief is it can all be reversed, not just based on wishful thinking. I also expect this dieback can be evaluated in terms of the slime effect. Getting to sound pretty Ghostbustering project. > least the research has never been released to the public. The > dendrites are the " inputs " to neurons, so basically they're pushing > a drug which reduces the number of possible interconnects between Poor quality digestion, chronic, creates a product Ayurveda calls ama, or incomoplete products of digestion, which also create blockage, coatings, some kind of sludge somewhere in the body depending upon body type and other factors. Many factors involved including temp and freshness of the food, moisture content, fat quality and content, cooked/raw factors different from the raw foodist approach, food combining, body type and condition, etc. > Imprinting SSRI-induced hyper-serotonin levels on a developing > child's brain could certainly cause abnormal serotonin levels and As I remember, Dr. Tracey has already identified correlations between gestational or early childhood exposures like this and teen or adulthood drug dependency tendencies of some sort, not just by overt example, for sure. >My guess is that maternal " depression " (internalized oppression) Life force oppression, we don't have to get into psychological blame. One of the conditoins of childbirth is tremendous opening of heart - AND all body systems in program for deep reset ie, easy to make changes time and part of why bonding is not only manifest but so important. It guides the heart to guide the body to serve from most integrated and deep levels. Ama in maternal system creates yes, tremendous Life force frustrations, and confustions. But in the early postpartum weeks (42-60 days) when we take proper care of the maternal body and support system, her heart does the rest. I believe it is a mistake to put attention at this time on psychology per say, or in any way make the woman think there is something wrong with her heart. Mothering is a natural thing, given the resources which are designed, templated in us all. Helping protect the template is particularly easy in this time of heart and open physiology, when we know what to do! Rich's discussion of the placebo effect goes to show how powerful are our inner transformative optoins! As well as the higher human spiritual picture being so intimately involved! Postpartum is a special window only women have " kayakalpa " is the term used for among other definitions, " body time " for tremendous spiritual growth. This sacred opportunity within the design of maternal chemistry for creating deeper awareness of Unity with all is part of the gift of motherhood! Which is why we all are so AVID about protecting it, I believe! And why it is such a big rape not to. > (or rather confirms the obvious fact of) the existence of a higher > level of organization (mind) which is articulated via the neurochemicals organization, Divine Plan, I call it...for greater integration of life. > This is why tinkering with brain chemicals in order to create a > shift in mind is like trying to program a computer with a soldering > iron. ... which is why non-toxic interventions such as social support, friendship and life-style changes are so effective: they speak the language of mind. > Rich AND THE BODY, and the SPIRIT, YES! So well said, Rich! To be continued...I've a book in the works here.
