Guest guest
Hello all and thanks so much for the replies. I have benefitted from them. Ysha, I especially liked this sentence, much food for thought: >Mother Nature wants our heart which is opened with initial bonding to become more deeply integrated into our psychophysioolgy to serve on all levels of our being with this quality of devoted love This has been resonant of my experience, and in my experience not always an easy thing to become integrated! Lots of resistance, but well worth the struggle. Thanks for that. I have also tried the EO and peppermint is good for the pain. Dr. Bhate, I have completed the three days of salt/epsom salt washes, and ginger drinks. I found much relief, the pain is still there and still traveling from joint to joint, but somehow more tolerable. It is not entirely gone though. I will try calcium maybe? I plan on nursing for two years, do you anticipate joint pain the entire time? How much is due to physically lifting 25 pound son who is not yet walking? THe ashwaganda should arrive tomorrow so I'll try that with the milk and ginger. I am grateful for your input and hope that when my son is a bit older I'll be able to devote some of my studies to ayurveda. Ysha, have you any recommendations for getting started on the studies here in California? I am near Mt. Madonna and they offer ayurvedic training. I live in teh San Francisco area, so I'm sure there has to be something out here. Sincerely, Shannon P.S. My son has really grown to love his warm oil baths! He really smiles big and doesn't try to wriggle away from me, which is not the case during his diaper changes;) Check out the New Mail - Fire up a more powerful email and get things done faster. If you get supply of fresh green leafy vegetables (preferably organic) in your area, try taking a glass of soup (no need to add any spices) daily in addition to whatever you are doing. The soup will give you both calcium and magnesium, in right proportion and whole will be absorbed by body. Correct soup you get when you cook the vegetable in little water and time is just upto first whistle in pressure cooker or about 2 minutes time after pressure is fully developed. Do not use microwave please. If leafy vegetable is not available you can also use vegetables which have green skin and skin is thin enough to be chewed and swallowed. All minerals will be available there. Magnesium you can also obtain through eating just two almond seeds, after soaking them overnight. eat them with skin. Remove iodized salt from your diet. In many cases of calcium stones in kidneys are attributed to iodized salt. > I plan on nursing for two years, do you anticipate joint pain the entire time? Next morning drink water. soaked seeds can be thrown away or chewed and swallowed, if slight bitter taste you do not mind. This is galactgogue remedy. results in better milk secretion. You may also take satawari ghrutam 1 tsp in warm milk (if you are able to get raw organic milk) for better milk production. THe ashwaganda should arrive tomorrow so I'll try that with the milk and ginger. If you can add peepramul powder 1/2 tsp in milk+ginger+aswagandha drink, that will help milk secretion. Though some galactogogue remedies were suggested, you see that you adopt them only if you feel milk needs to be boosted. No use pumping out. Guest guest
For Group Members who are not familiar with some of Dr. Bhate's herbs - If you get supply of fresh green leafy vegetables (preferably organic) in your area, try taking a glass of soup (no need to add any spices) No spices as long as the soup is not creating gas for you, which cooked/puree should not. This will be very alkalyzing also, more modern term, which will support the balance No, not entire time. At bedtime soak 1 tsp fenugreek seeds in a cup of water. Next morning drink water. soaked seeds can be thrown away or chewed and swallowed, also delicious added to your cereal or other foods You may also take satawari ghrutam 1 tsp in warm milk (if you are able to get raw organic milk) for better milk production. Satawari, shatavari, shitawari, all the same wild asparagus root. Ghrutam is the herb mentioned, decocted in ghee. Recipe taakes some time to make! You can also take the shatvari, hydrate well in a little hot water, add this and tspoon or more ghee to the warm milk. I do not know what other auxiliary herbs are added to satawari ghrutam, but this is a simple way to do it. I would add pinch cardamom. THe ashwaganda should arrive tomorrow so I'll try that with the milk and ginger. If you can add peepramul powder 1/2 tsp in milk+ginger+aswagandha drink, that will help milk secretion. The peepramul powder is another way of saying pippali root. Pippali is a variety of pepper similar strength in some ways to black, but less sharply biting or aggravating and more specific for enhancing agnis on many if not all levels? with kindly warming, tingly enlivening qualities, you can feel it wake up the agnis as soon as it hits the tongue (regular pippali can be used this way, more distinctively). The ginger also for agni/digestion, the ashwaghanda not always as strong as shatavari, but one of my regulars for lactating mothers too. It is a vata rasayana (rejuvenative tonic as well as reducing excess) and shatavari is a pitta rasayana; both are often involved of course postpartum. so these things are not just for milk production or secretion. This vata rasayana supports deeper relaxation as well as strength, many other properties, hence we can use for word secretion issues, although with shatavari's hormone balancing support, this may also be a side effect. These herbs can be ordered in the US from various sources, including Banyanbotanicals.com Most of theirs are grown certifiec organic tilth. Dr. Bhate, ashwaghanda is good for milk PRODuction as well as secretion, right? I would be fascinated to understand more the difference between pippalimool and pippali (seed), aside from the natural grounding support of roots. Warmly; Ysha.
