Guest guest
I am looking for some advice to give to a nursing mom who wants to try a mild pk. She is trying to get pregnant again her baby now is 15 months. She is having problems getting pregnant and I thought pk might help. Pitta/Kapha body type. She is on Lexapro and another med starts with an m for helping blood sugar stabilize. She said it is a med used for diabetes although she is not diabetic. Is it safe for her to do a home pk while on these meds and nursing? Thanks, Sonya
Guest guest
This author had some querries on your message: 1. what do you mean by 'pk'? 2. Her body type " Pitta/Kapha " , how it was determined? Yu can quote an online " questionaire " type if it was done that way, or if it was determined by her examination/pulse diagnosis etc 3. Name of another medicine will help knowing if she is having any hurdle in second conception due to side effects or is she is passing any residues to baby. BTW, why she is taking these meds when she is known not to have diabetes? or is it just as GLucophage/metformin is given to aid fertility? ayurveda , " sonyabastow " <sonya wrote: > > I am looking for some advice to give to a nursing mom who wants to try > a mild pk. Guest guest
Hmmmm...some random thoughts from a western-trained herbalist/nutrition counselor: if no diabetes, perhaps pre-diabetes, aka metabolic syndrome? does she have any history of polycystic ovaries? did she have trouble conceiving in the past? the two (PCOS and metabolic syndrome) often go hand-in-hand, signaling yes blood sugar imbalance but also larger endocrine disruption. can be associated with elevated prolactin even in absence of breastfeeding, and diminished dopamine levels. other signs: overweight with classic apple shape/abdominal distribution of fat; hirsuitism (excessive body hair). some nutrients lacking could include omega-3 fats, magnesium, B-complex vitamins, Zinc, selenium. what I know of herbs to work with this pattern may disrupt breastfeeding, so I wonder if motherbaby are ready to wean just yet? providing missing nutrients and establishing healthy eating habits will help her body prepare to nourish another life, and are the safest, most long-lasting changes to make. is she currently having menstrual cycles? what are a typical day's eating habits? another gem I learned in school is that we let go of our addictions and unhealthy habits when we feel strong and nourished. I'd be wary of her doing any cleansing (even a gentle panchakarma or PK) if she is already depleted. there are many missing pieces to sort out before I go on making any more assumptions. hope this helps and apologies if I'm headed down the wrong track. cheerio, Adrienne
