Dear Shannon;

Welcome and feel free to bring up questions - we will do our best to

offer insignt and support. YOu bring wonderful background into your

practice! We meaning all members, and especially with ayurvedic focus

from those practicing Ayurvedic care. Please visit also

www.wisewomanhood.com, Terra Raphael's site (ayurvedic midwife based

in Boulder, CO) and www.saritashrestha.org, Dr. Sarita Shrestha who

directs birthing clinics and midwives in Nepal and teaches about women

and children's health as her heart's specialty in several locations in

the US.

THere is another rather well kept secret in the Boulder area - Shar

Lee. Shar has been teaching yoga for over 30 years, also did generous

amount of research into healing methods and especially women's health

by taking long trips to the far east and asking the locals, who is

your favorite yoga teacher, healer, etc. THen finding those bests and

studying with them. I recently enjoyed sitting in on her yoga for

women's health day where she shared some very interesting tips. Such

as, yoga in India, for instance, is almost exclusively a men's

practice, and is generally designed more for a man's body. Her simple

adaptations and guidance for yoga around everything from menstrual

cramps to menopause, pre and pospartum yoga, etc was a fascinating

section of the 4 day Women's Health Care & Ayurveda intensive taught

in Boulder by Saraswti Buhrman, Terra RAphael, and Shar Lee.

Warm Regards;

Ysha

Ysha, In the lactation study group I attend every month we discuss a topic. Last

time it was newborns and allergies. For the next meeting we have each been

assigned to discuss some aspect of allergies in regards to newborns. I mentioned

that ayurvedic health practitioners take a different approach than allopathic

practitioners, so I was immediately assigned that topic to discuss. The problem

is I don't know anything about it. Beeara gave me a wonderful handout I can take

called Allergies - An Ayurvedic Approach by Sebastian Pole. It is 10 pages of

wonderful, detailed information and I am going to take it in the hopes they read

it and glean something. Is there any " in a nutshell " advice you can offer " that I

can mention that might be understandable to people who aren't familiar to

ayurvedic vocabulary?

Vicky
