Guest guest
I saw it last year, it's fabulous but just a drop in the bucket. They've discovered so much about what babies know. I follow anything put out by the APPPAH. Wish I could afford their conference in LA next February. If you liked this, be sure and read anything by David Chamberlain, and go to Wendy McCarty's site. Guest guest
HI Linda; When I was at last year's MANA (Midwives of North America) national conference, they were showing this video called What Babies want. I was so busy with our booth and presenting that I forgot to go back and watch it, but many who saw it remarked how well done and powerful it is. Ayurveda offers a very significant piece, I believe, in the preconception discussion especially with the contemporary issues around cleansing lipid soluble toxins such as pesticides and the many ingredients not good for us found in everything from toothpastes to lotions, shampoos to houscleaning chemicals. In addition, the practice of panchakarma, even regular home practice such as is coached by practitioners like Cora Newman and Nancy Phillips in Chicago, is the very best for most women and their families for creating highest quality semen and ovum. Start at least 3 months prior to conception for the developing ovum involved for that conception. Claudia Welsch, both Ayurvedic Practitioner and licensed Accupuncturist and Chinese herbalist, teaches some fascinating discussion on Women's Health and Ayurveda including around preconception, and healing our own birth stresses which tend to perpetuate themselves thru generations. Guest guest
Another good video is the Psychology of Birth: Invitation to Intimacy (http://owl.postle.net/ and www.ecstaticbirth.com/elmer.htm) by Elmer Postle. He and Debbie, maker of the What Babies Want video, (www.whatbabieswant.com) started out co-developing the film, and they each did a one of their own. More perspectives are always good!! Both films feature many of the same people. janel ayurveda , " Martha Oakes " <AyurDoulas wrote: > > HI Linda; > When I was at last year's MANA (Midwives of North America) national > conference, they were showing this video called What Babies want. Guest guest
Well I think that you all know my take on this video, since I have brought it up so much in the passed on this forum. I think it is fantastic! I think that is a great intro video about the consciousness of the baby in the womb and beyond and how babies have awareness and how things that happen during pregnancy and their birth can have an impact on their lives. I thought that it was a fantastic video and I am getting more and more involved with this sort of work as I mentioned in an earlier post I recently attended a weekend birth and bonding workshop with Ray Castellino and midwife Mary Jackson called " About Connections " Ray Castellino also works with a group called BEBA (Building and Enhancing Bonding and Attachment) It was really great stuff, I was amazed! Both Ray Castellino and Mary Jackson can be seen on the video What Babies Want which is an amazing resource for families and the birthing community. I myself am getting more and more into this aspect of compassion and consciousness of the newborn and fetus within the womb and the long term imprinting and how pregnancy, birth and early parenting affects us in our everyday adult lives. ALLIANCE FOR TRANSFORMING THE LIVES OF CHILDREN champion a culture of compassionate individuals, families, and communities who have fun with, learn from, and responsively and lovingly interact with children. We accomplish this by providing guidance about consciously conceiving, birthing, and nurturing children. http://www.atlc.org/ BEBA (Building and Enhancing Bonding and Attachment) supports families to resolve prenatal, birth and other early trauma, both physical and emotional, while facilitating the development of compassionate relationships, the healthy growth of children, and effective parenting. http://www.beba.org/ Castellino Prenatal and Birth Training to make Prenatal and Birth Therapy available to the world community for children, adults, and especially for babies and new families with the highest possible integrity, efficiency and compassion http://www.castellinotraining.com/ What Babies Want explores the profoundly important and sacred opportunity we have in bringing children into the world. http://www.whatbabieswant.com/ Your aspiring servant, Rasa V.
