Guest guest
Hi Ade; Yes, Joy lives a few blocks from Chicago " Indian Town " ! Patel Bros there, and the other big one next door are wonderful resources for supplies, tho I prefer to get my herbs organic whenever possible. Have you experienced the Himalyan hand harvested organic honey available in a few places? I found it in the store next door to Patels (and in Fairfield), it is a joint venture between a family in Nepal and a wonderful man in Fairfield, Iowa. Really yummy and well priced too, the less liquidy one has the bee pollen and royal jelly still in it too, and is a bit like caramel in smooth consistency. Banyanbotanicals.com is still my favorite for organic medicinal and some culinary herbs, but they still don't have all the culinaries available. Saffron tins, what did it cost there? I used to order from Cherians' in Atlanta area as everything in their huge store comes direct from India, not thru another carrier (except for flours). The saffron tins cost me $22 I forget the amount, but huge, nice quality Spanish. The Indian store here in Boulder, CO on Valmont street sells little packets of Edible Gum for $5.50, expensive. Worth ordering many of the supplies by mail when you can't find them locally. I haven't compared Swad, Raja, or other Indian brand names, have to rely on advice from any Indian community members for that. Lots of old/good friends here, great classes, and now a few days in the hot springs and wilderness for me! Remember Amy Uma Thompson? SHe is celebrating her marriage on Sunday in WinterPark, CO, so I " ll head home probably Tuesday the 8th or Wed. If anyone is wondering, I haven't been able to access my regular email for 3 weeks now...lots of catching up time when I get back. Love, Ysha
