Guest guest
Hi All Marita has not gotten back to me, how this birth went nor joined our forum. HOpefully the baby did turn! I'm just going thru some old mail tonight, getting a bit caught up on few and thought you might be interested in the discussion here. Probably there are more tricks to share from midwives in the group also. Ysha Marita Andreassen Dear Martha, I have been encouraged to contact you for advice concerning birth. One of the Art of Living-girls up here in the northern Norway is giving birth around the 16th of May. The child has not moved into the right position, but is laying with the butt down. The doctors here have tried to turn it, but it hasn't worked. If the child does not turn with the head down, she has to have Caesarean operation, they say. The mother is in good shape, and is about 35-37 yrs. old. This is her first baby. Is there any trick in ayurveda or other to help the child turn? The mother-to-be has been told it is possible to turn a child by footzone-therapi, but there is no one here who knows about that. We will be very happy to receive your reply. Best regards from Northern Norway Marita Andreassen Art of Living teacher Martha Oakes <martha wrote: Dear Marita; It is exciting to hear from Norway - Northern no less! Brings a deep breath thinking of the natural prana you must have with which to enjoy your kriya practices! There are many tricks the midwives know; I don't know the footzone-therapi, but here are a few ideas: organic peppermint oil, applied near the baby's head has been very effective (on mom's belly just near baby's head) laying 10 minutes 2 - 3 times a day on a 45degree slanted board there are techniques the mexican/central american midwives use with a simple strong sash called Rebozo. There are books, perhaps also internet resources showing the technique. Related techniques also for labor supports It will be good for baby's health if Mom can labor, whether the baby turns or not, before doing any surgery. Labor massges baby's lungs, elimination and digestive systems, eliminating extra mucous and wastes in preparaton for life on the planet as a breathing system etc. It allows for much healther start, much healther immune system and much more. I hope this is helpful, send my warm regards and encourage the mother to talk with the baby's higher self about this also. I would love to hear of the results. Also encourage her to take advantage of the free info on my website at www.sacredwindow.com, and for you to join if you like the www.perinatalayurveda forum I host to ask questions, share, and read more resources. May I share this communication there? There are midwives on the forum who may have further advice - do check in! Was it Ann Revington who referred you? Please give her my warmest greetings. Many Blessings; Ysha Dear Ysha, Yes, it was my dear friend Ann who recommended me to contact you. Thank you for all your advices, I will share them with my friend tomorrow morning! Yes, you can share this communication with the forum. I will forward the links to my friend, and I am sure she will be very interested to look into them too. I will let you know how it goes, I am very excited too. From Norway with love, Marita
Guest guest
Hi ladies: Acupuncture or moxibustion is effective for turning babies, refer to several acupuncturists for this. I also use acupressure. I've had several Moms press hard on the outside, bottom edge of the nailbed of the small toe, several times a day until desired effect happens. Also application of warm water bags where you want babies head to turn to, cold ones on the feet or high on the fundus I've used once. Many reasons for babies not turning including shorter than normal cords and extensive cord wrapping keeping them from turning, but I definitely agree talking to the baby about how much easier birth would be in optimal position including putting your hand with light pressure on deep lower left part of fundus, asking baby to put back of head here. I asked one baby who was threatening to come early and whose brother was born preemie to talk to his older brother about living in NICU ( and with lots of prayers offered) that baby waited past his due date. Guest guest
Hi Charlotte; Thanks for sounds like great suggestions - The heat/cold applications will be working with same principle as the peppermint oil, I think, which is energyzing, cooling and stimulating as opposed to the calming and soothing effects of warmth and oils like chamomile. Kitchen medicine, I love it, simpler and less expensive (warm/cold). > Hi ladies: > > Acupuncture or moxibustion is effective for turning babies, refer to several acupuncturists > for this. When you say bottom outside edge, bottom means near the rest of the toe or? Many reasons for babies not turning including shorter than normal cords and extensive cord wrapping keeping them from Do y ou have any idea the percentage? I'm just curious here. > to talk to his older brother about living in NICU ( and with lots of prayers offered) that baby waited past his due date. Great experience! Guest guest
CranioSacral, of course!!! And, talking to the baby about what is going for him or her. Sometimes babies can't because of physical issues of the mother -- so the CST really helps physically to have space, and sometimes there is an emotional issue for the mother. AND, I believe that the action of turning from breech (head near mother's heart) is a huge action one must take. Sort of that first step towards independence. Mother's issues very big here. Baby know what she or he needs to turn and IF that is her agenda for birth (and life). Talk to baby! Women need to listen to baby, listen to baby, listen to baby! " It's the Baby's Birth! Guest guest
That point is called Bladder 60 in acupuncture and is the bottom of the small toenail (closest to the rest of the body) on the outermost side (away from the rest of the toes).
