Guest guest
Thanks for getting back to me Martha. I think that you are right about the massage and getting more Ayurvedic training when I really think about it since it does require a lot more attention to individual needs quite often. They told me they can't afford the training or parts of it right now. Sometimes I feel like I do need assistance since there are only a few of us and Susan who I have been calling on is now starting to get a good amount of business and is going to school. I have been sending referrals to Dona and Laura a lot lately hopefully they will soon be called on frequently as well. It seems that this Ayurdoula stuff is really getting some attention lately. Collins, CO http://dunamascomm.com you can download the research interview questionnaire and submit to the researcher easily, about an hour's time involvement if you know women who had PPD or PTSD related depression and their delivery was at least 1 year before. Although they clearly have no understanding of so many of hte " Ayurvedic " factors, perhaps some of you will want to refer clients to help establish other causitive factors. I found this on the Mothering Magazine ezine, where undoutedly the results will get good exposure. I've often thought of writing up my questionnaire, am inspired oh my, when the destop other commitments are cleared more than a bit. Any students, AyurDoulas or other Ayurvedic practitioners care to offer your well educated suggestions for collaboration? I know how much we want to say yes, and to get even some better care to the moms as soon as possible. If it was in some way under your formal work umbrella, with agreement that the client also knew to contact you according to something much more solidly supportive than mentioning your name as a resource, I might feel comfortable, as they are in the same area as you unlike Beeara's situation where there are no AyurDoulas in the area to work alongside. For the training, I would want to see them take a minimum of the following in this case: 15 hours or more intro to Ayurveda, The Foundational Theory class on Ayurvedic Mother & Infant Care and Cooking, and then they learn the mother's home spa care protocols. THis would work as long as there is room in the class over certification student enrollments, which looks like quite possible for this Boulder series. Please let me know their feedback? I expect it would make for a really excellent team, as long as they understand the value of your expertise and a fuller Ayurvedic background. For years the heart and soul of the Maharishi Ayurved Mother & Baby Program has been a woman named Joanne Poole here, who basically mothers the mother and family, maybe cooks a little, mostly does the massage and general supportive activity. Her knowledge of Ayurveda is basic, and when she saw the older version of my book she was so excited at the useful info in there not taught her, including the cooking. Do you feel you need assistance in your work and could maybe expand your business where you do daily communications with both the doulas and the family, and your assistants do the massage and cooking? If I were of a business mind, I might have gone there. THis is what you will do actually, as part of being an intern supervisor once you are officially a trainer. By the way, at RMIYA there is usually the option of time payments in the form of postdated checks for study payments as well as work study. In Milwaukee at Kanyakumari, students will have the option of taking a Salllie Mae student loan. Classes there will be monthly weekends. Lymphatic drainage classes would be a waste of their money if they want to really begin giving the powerfully effective Ayurvedic care. Massage school, among other things, trains them to use as little oil as possible. So many other factors also there. It would of course be better than nothing, but let's see what we can do to get them enrolled with RMIYA for part of the May intensive. > There are a couple of certified ppd here that are interested in learning> the massage. I will have a DVD avaialbe soon, by the way, to also support students learning the mothers' care. Guest guest
Most welcome Sonya. Forgive, I've been quite booked too, training small groups here in Iowa and getting more private consult calls. I hope your vacation was really wonderful. Talked with Susan today, she is doing super, in part much to your tutelage, I can tell. So, the Boulder intensive is being rescheduled to July, which gives anyone still interested chance to get in touch with Dona at RMIYA for the preparatory Ayurvedic background classes, hopefully. Yea team! It is wonderful to be able to work in a team, isn't it? > Thanks for getting back to me. Dona has been counseling with me about her client, those little deetails, nuggets of understanding Ayurveda offers about the daily experience and habits that get rediscovered and more deeply understood are being brought back with our inadvertant internship counseling while talking about business of running the trainings. Just deepens my appreciation for the need to massge the knowledge into the awareness more while students are practicing it, thinking even they have it all down they discover more wonderful ways they can support their clients more fully, yes. I look forward to having you on the trainer team! Love, Ysha
