Guest guest
Hi Ade; You know, I had to make that advice ... even while gritting my teeth so to speak. But it is VERY interesting how they sent her home without the urine test, and with such advise. Postpartum, exercise ain't appropriate those first 5 -8 weeks really, not how he intended it. Some gentle stretching after a few weeks within certain perameters only, not pulling the joints or midline stretch particularly. So yes, the gentle ayurvedic postpartum massage as we are not calling it, warm oil home spa care, is the ancient solution most appropriate. A more than lymphatic massage, but does that job too. What is the Brat diet? I sure hope they look at the ayurvedic postpartum dietary keys! (those unfamiliar can look in the files here. Yes! demand to be taken seriously when she said something wasn't right. I don't follow the medical abbreviations enough to grok the blood pressure picture - it would be intersting discussion why with the other symptoms it is not at issue now though ...? My warm greetings to at Shekina birthing there in Charleston. She is definitely a longstanding wisewoman! Love, Ysha
Guest guest
I'm so glad to hear that this woman is feeling better! I was very worried about her. Big sigh of relief!!! Horray for Homeopathy! Homeopathy can really work wonders sometimes, and fast. This woman was incredibly fortunate to have such a resourceful doula! Of course, we don't know the whole story, and we did not know what the physicians' care plan was. My opinion, knowing what we DO know about this woman, is that other blood tests were in order, but that's another discussio- and not an ayurvedic one. The tragic part of this story is that the woman felt ill, and those around her identified her as ill, and yet she did not receive any HELP or treatment from her main care providers. A diagnostic workup, eg, blood tests, the echocardiogram, etc., is only a PART of the treatment she should have receieved from her allopathic physicians. Sadly, they failed her and they are extremely fortunate her health took a turn for the better. Having said all that, and while completely supporting the doula's decision to facilitate giving a homeopathic remedy, this woman could just as easily have taken a turn for the worse. She could have become eclamptic, developing full blown seizures, she could have been experiencing liver or kidney failure, she could have had pulmonary edema, or worse. I just think it is important for people to realize that any severity of preeclampsia can progress extremely rapidly, in a matter of hours. Guest guest
This was my concern also, although not given the training you have as a clinical midwife, Erin, to know this it seemed apparent. Sometimes homeopathy totally amazes me, other times it seems pretty so so, and usually with the level of client concerns I work with postpartum, it is not the preferred option as it does not usually seem to address the physical levl needs as much. My behind the scenes on this client now is wondering how many of the causative conditions are still needing attention. Not that the homeopathy doesn't facilitate the body's intelligence to self heal in very specific ways, of course. But knowing the postpartum needs and naturally imballanced conditions, it would be ideal time to now address these with the crisis abated. She is still certainly very fragile.
