Guest guest
Dear Ysha ~ The best way to change it is to just start using it! Only my father and sister call me by my birth name these days. I know other name changers who just start using their new name. They keep signing there checks with their legal name of course, but *everyone* knows what their *real/new* name is. Question: Is the Y like an I? Or is it a consonant Y? Could you explain the pronunciation for us on email? All the best - I am happy for you, universal consciousness and all! Guest guest
Dear Ysha -- Maybe I missed the story of your croning. It must have been glorious. Could you share more of your story and the process with us? If you have done this here, could you send me the post number? I changed my name almost four years ago at a time that I now know I was beginning the crone journey. I kept a part of my previous name, Lou (to honor my baby Louie who I must nurture and protect) and my maiden name, Martin in my " legal " name, but I go my Janel. It has elements of embracing my ancestral Native American lineage. I just started using it myself and those who didn't get it, but wanted to know why, I shared with them. The first people -- three colleagues -- said, " Cool. " I thought, wow, this was easy. It prepared me for a few other not so receptive comments. I felt I really only needed to be clear and complete with my mother and father, and that went well. I have the need to participate in some sort of ceremony in my new community of women. My twelve year old daughter is also transitioning - - it has been a special time. Do you have resources for ceremony for both of our transitions? Thanks!
