Guest guest
This is an update on Lucy, previous post. Sha had been experiencing, as she understood it and I'm sure to considerable extent tho well intended, resistence from her baby's father to help her get the support she needed with her postpartum depression, meals, rest, etc. Lucy had studied some with me but had forgotten the power of it until the surprise cesarian surgery showed her what so many mothers experience. We have found a doula in her area who had experienced 6 weeks AyurDoula cooking and mothers' Ayurvedic warm oil home spa treatments daily (used to be called the mother's ayurvedic massage, but due to massage license issues, we are calling it something more interesting anyway The doula had this care with her 5th, 6 months ago, after 4 children with heavy colic and definite depression herself, none of it for the 5th. When I found her in the DONA registry, she said she is so excited to have some opportunity to learn, even correspondence and by phone coaching out of the usual order of training, she has offered 2 - 3 days a week meals and hands on best she can remember/be coached in, for the cost of the food and gas only. Needless to say, we are all very happy about this, and LUcy's first day of care at 2 weeks postpartum has been a Goddesssend. She feels much better. But there is more. She is still VERY weak and emotionally fragile, of course, and needs some weeks of support. Meanwhile, her significant other came home saying, you need to have some care! I've been getting educated on postpartum depression, and this is really important! Do you have some recipes, he says? (*grin*) He had been offering a hamburger, beans, fast food, whatever he ate. And had also by this time experienced some middle of the night need to walk their son over tummy problems. I " m still on day by day arranging for the care with those available and negotiating the expenditures, but it is starting to come together. Lucy said to me today (I've had her call me at least daily to run by key check points and general SOMEONE to talk with who knows) - " Experiencing even this semblance of the program we trained in, I don't know why I haven't been doing this care for others!!!!! I've been trained in it, saw the results with a girlfriend in Florida who was severely depressed, but it got away from me. " (She had even left her notes and recipes in storage ... humph.)
