Guest guest
Dear Friends; My recent homework going through email files found this and the conversation is renewed. Jenny said to feel free to share it. I beleive she may have joined our group? Of course this does not represent everyone's experience, but my guess is that way more than know are suffering in these ways, and it behoves us as practioners to add this investigation into our protocols. Does anyone know the doshic implications of MSG? I haven't stopped to figure that one. By the way, in ref the ayurveda forum, I agree with some of Jenny's concern, although I find as a practitioner some of the ayurvedic physician's posts (including Dr. Caldecott's) give me much to learn from. It is also valuable for me to see the diverse ways of discussing and approaching the issue. It is served best as Jenny indicates, with a deeper understanding of ayurvedic principles as foundation, to help with the sort, and for serious personal needs the caveat is to see an ayurvedic physician personally! A doula is such a sacred and blessed profession, and I applaud your courage and desire to help the whole of society. > > I want to offer my support also for your desire to acquire wisdom about the benefits of natural therapies. > > I was victimized by the medical industry through the use of SSRIs for six years, although none of the thirteen drugs, talk therapy, or shock treatments, helped me regain any of my mental or life activities at all. My depression began my first year of college, and did not dissipate until I spent a semester in Romania. As soon as I came back to school, my life functions were again impaired. > > I later learned that my college adds high levels of MSG into the food in the cafeteria. A doctor tested me for MSG sensitivity, and we were able to pinpoint it as the cause of my mental illness, and I am fortunately now free of it. Previous doctors had prescribed more chemicals to deal with a chemical reaction. This is a fatal flaw in our non-systemic medical industry. > > If women are eating processed food, they may unknowingly expose themselves and their offspring to many chemicals. I believe that helping people to transition to natural food may aid them in a skillset, and a type of de-stressor,that will help truly empower them, and perhaps alleviate many of their depressive symptoms. > > Take care, and peace be with you, > > Jenny in Santa Barbara > DEar Jenny; I Hope this finds you, I want to thank you for this info and invite these kinds of comments on the forum. May I post it even now? It is very valuable info and in experience form is safest legal way to share these considerations. > Martha Hi Martha, Yes I remember receiving an email from you. You had mentioned that you used to live in Santa Barbara as well. You are welcome to post my info if you think it is appropriate. I left the Ayurvedaonline because of too little information about the system itself, and more posts about personal questions and seeking specific symptom solutions. It is a dangerous slope in my opinion, to solicit medical advice from a newsforum, and although many people did cite sources (I found Todd Coltecolt(sp?)'s site which is awesome), I found it difficult to sort through which information to believe. That said, I am very much interested in Ayurveda and with a primarily whole-food lifestyle. If you had advice on other newsgroups or newsletters that you like, I would be interested in hearing about those. I also care about the next generation, and helping expose children to natural foods, starting in the womb. A good friend of mine has become a doula in Santa Barbara. Thank you so much for your email, and it is a pleasure to correspond with you. Take care, Jenny Hi Jenny; Yes, I agree particularly with serious situations like use of medical drugs and coming off them safely, one needs personalized professional support as well as foudational understanding what is going on. Our perinatalayurveda focus forum is a more limited topic format, hopefully my ability to comment from an ayurvedic format helps gradual understanding of the principles involved. But study with an ayurvedic practitioner /teacher really is valuable if you wish to understand. I have started this forum both for students to learn and exchange more, and for those clients who want to ask questions but woudln't if they kept paying me a private fee - so to benefit from answers while others learn also, making me feel my time is more worthwhile. And to begin to show others there is this body of knowledge available. I have a particular concern about the SSRIs, hence my desire to share your post. Thank you, I hope this finds you well!
