Guest guest
Hello everyone. My name is Linda Meadows. I live near Vancouver, BC Canada. I am 36 years old, married with a one-year-old son. He was born at home with midwives and a birth doula. It was a wonderful birth. I used post-partum doulas as well because of difficulties getting him to nurse. That finally sorted itself out and he has grown very big and still loves nursing. After my baby was born, I considered becoming a post-partum doula. So far I haven't pursued it. I want to learn more anyways as I hope to have another baby or two still, and I want to have the best pregnancy, birth, and post-partum as possible. The last few years I have been devouring information on healthy eating / natural approaches to living. The Weston A Price Foundation has had the greatest impact on me - and I noticed that much your your information is similar. I also noticed in the files section that you suggest several modifications to their information - but at least you recognize it as a good attempt and a good starting point. I know nothing about Ayurverda yet - but I'ld like to learn more. I just became a distributor for Young Living Essential Oils and that prompted my search of the internet where I found Martha's web-site. I was searching for info for a client who wanted to increase her milk supply and I ended up recommending fennel oil. Looking forward to more learning. Guest guest
Welcome LInda, and thanks for sharing about yourself so well. Yes, the reason I honor Weston Price info so much is it confirms the ancient principles of ayurveda in certain ways so well! And my experience with the moms, then. In particular, use of cooked foods and good quality fats in abundance after childbirth, winter months, or anytime we are going through major changes in our lives is especially key. The discussion is fascinating, and can be easiily understood. Many books are available on the subject of basic ayurveda. Dr. Kummuda REddy (one of our silent group members ...) has written a wonderful sweet book introducing ayurveda for mothers and babies, " For a Blissful Baby " available on her website (see www.sacredwindow.com/resources.html for it ) along with founder of the Maharishi Ayurveda Mother & Baby Program, Margaret Mulleins. I always love Dr. Vasant Lad's books, and you may really enjoy the back sections especially of the book on " Ayurvedic Cooking for Self Healing " , where not only detailed charts on effects of foods for different body types are found, but foods and herbs/culinaries are listed with medicinal recipes for them underneath. ALso check out his " The Complete GUide to Ayurvedic Home REmedies " ! Contains great education in the front, great alpha listing of many conditions and their management. If you wonder about the herbs in some references, give us a note here. Back to work ....
