Guest guest
I was reading Mothering magazine and saw that there is a book by Deepak Chopra, David Simon and Vicki Abrams called Magical Beginnings, Enchanted Lives: A Holistic Guide to Pregnancy and Birth. Apparently it deals with Ayurveda plus western science. I haven't read it so I can't give my personal opinion from reading it, but other books by Chopra have been nice. Does anyone know of a specific Ayurvedic perinatal book? I have seen lots of pregnancy books that mention some tiny bit of Ayurvedic info and some Ayurvedic books that mention some tiny bit of pregnancy info. There are also many prenatal yoga books but I don't know if they deal with the other aspects of Ayurveda. Does anyone know? Thanks, Kalavati
Guest guest
Yes, our fabulous moderator has written a most excuisite book on this very subject, 42 Days For 42 Years, Martha Oakes. And Marhishi has a book called For a Blissful Baby, I find that book nice but a little too vague about details, it's like it insinuates its about to get into deep stuff but leaves you hanging and only if you do the Marhishi program will these details be revealed. Martha's book is great, I use it all the time! Guest guest
One question: Are you referring to Maharishi of Fairfield, Iowa? The post says Marhishi. Just wondering because I don't know the latter. Thanks again, Kalavati devi dasi
Guest guest
not quite sure of where he is at, I lent out my copy of the book, but its from the Mother & baby program I think, perhaps Martha knows, like I said if I had my copy of the book I could answer you more clearly. Guest guest
Hi Kalavati devi dasi; Yes, Maharishi Mahesh Yogi has a community/schools etc in FAirfield, IA, which is where I am right now, it is quite " grown up " here, beautiful landscaping, organic produce, stapatya veda buildings, etc. This is where I received my original training in ayurvedic mother & baby care. Maharishi in INdia is often spelled Maharshi, and I think Rebecca just misspelled. Namaste Martha > Are you referring to Maharishi of Fairfield, Iowa? Guest guest
Thanks Martha ~ I am from Iowa City, but when I was growing up I wasn't exposed to Fairfield by my very " American " father, although when I was an older adolescent I heard about it. We live in Colorado now, but when we visit Iowa I plan to explore Fairfield. The children learn Sanskrit in school there which is so cool. Guest guest
Hi Kalvati; Quick checking in saw your post. YOu will have to call when you are coming - maybe I can put you up! HOusehunting right now here ... My 18 year old son has studied sanskrit, Jyotish, etc for years, will be attending the university here now! Quite the peace in a mother's heart to see him growing up so wise in so many ways. Martha We live in Colorado now, but when we visit Iowa I plan to > explore Fairfield.
