Guest guest
These are mainly for Martha but I thought perhaps all would benefit... Has anyone used the Bala/Ashwaghanda oil available from Banyan for the Basti? It comes in 4 oz. and I was thinking to save time and materials cost, buy pre-prepared formula. Has anyone used Cut/Sifted Dashmool rather than powdered? I find that for herbal teas the C/S herbs are easier to strain. Thoughts? Guest guest
Hi Adrienne; Re the Banyan oil, I've forgotten it was available. Good Idea if your feeling ashwaghanda is also indicated. They do a nice job and use organic sesame oil. But you will need probably more than 4 oz if you do all 7 days of the basti, right? lets see, 4 oz is half a cup I think. 1/3 cup for each basti. Could get expensivo. If you want to purchase it premade, check in with Louise Sanchez in Boulder what she would charge for about 20 oz of the bala oil. She may make it or have some already made. (303) 546-0952. > Re the cut/sift version, it is less likely to boil over too. Used to be we had a fairly fine c/s version I'd get from MAPI, but their source was not very clean after a while; same with my previous supplier Bazzar of India in Berkeley, CA. I like the quality of Banyan's herbs and people; if they have the c/s go for it. Use more of course, I'm not sure maybe a Tablesoon loose pack per cup. Someone should compare and let us all know, eh? It won't boil over as easy in a smaller pot either compared to the powder. Love, Martha
Guest guest
Hello Adrienne, I haven't used this Banyan product but if you email them they can tell you how strong their oil preperations are and possibly suggest a dosage for basti. Powdered v. Cut and Sifted boils down to preference (no real difference except how fine the size of the leaves/roots/stems are. Things that could make a difference are freshness, seasoned harvested, organic/non o /. Etc. I prefer to use pills that are made from herbal extracts (meaning that the herbs in the pills are stronger than straight (raw) herbs, i.e. One pound of raw herbs will be soaked with 4 or 5 pounds of juice extracted from raw herb but there is less leaf/stem/root fiber so the potency is higher. I crush these pills into basti formulations (with/without oil/water). Best Wishes, Hakim Pawo. > > > > These are mainly for Martha but I thought perhaps all would benefit... > > Has anyone used the Bala/Ashwaghanda oil available from Banyan for > the Basti?
