Guest guest
Martha, I have a question on the book you sent me. I would like to do the basti at home. I don't have the bag and don't have enough time to get the bag too - but I can get some Fleet bottles. How do I do the basti with the fleet bottles? Thanks Himali
Guest guest
Dear Himali; A dear Ayurvedic Doula by the name of Corinna Gartner in Santa Barbara, CAlifornia tells me for years she only uses the disposible Fleet enema bag with her clients. I have not tried it, having grown accustomed to the regular enema bag (which are purchased from Cascade Medical supply for a nominal cost, and generally can be washed and reused for many times, and have the advantage of being see-through, so you can tell whether you have taken most or all of the small 1/3 cup of herbalized oil which is recommended for the postpartum basti). So she just empties and washes it out, and takes care to squeeze out any air before administering the basti. To me, it seems it would easily slip doing it yourself, but I may be wrong, so I'd recommend using a little more oil to fill it. Be sure to lubricate the tip with some ghee or other sterile thick lubrication for your comfort. Retain onlly as long as comfortable; many mothers retain it easily all night, needing the oleation in the pelvic area. Martha
