Hi Martha~

I know you are busy and didn't expect personal counseling :o) I am

now in my last trimester~due Oct 8th. I have not stayed 100% raw

vegan as I speak of in the email because my body wanted more. I have

tried to listen and go along with what it needs. The main reason

that I am soooo strict with my diet is because I had severe issues

with candida after the birth of my first son and although I feel they

are under control, it is still an issue and I'm trying to prevent a

reaccurrance. Since the email I wrote you, I've read your book and

plan to incorporate some things into my routines. I still have

trouble with a lot of grains and proteins, especially dairy as I'm

prone to a lot of mucous production and I feel that this can lead to

candida growth. I also struggle with dehydration and feel the raw

really helps with this. I had trouble with low milk supply with my

first son as well and I feel now it was because I was eating

dehydrating foods.

I am very thankful you have started the and look forward

to all I will be learning there. I use the YL oils regularly but am

now trying to educate myself on how to use them based on ayurvedic

principles. I am now reading Ayurveda and Aromatherapy based on the

recommendation from your book. It is great so far. I look forward

to the oils and ayurveda in supporting me through my upcoming birth

and postpartum.

I appreciate all your advice and respect your knowledge. If you

would like to make any comments on my past email, I would gladly

accept them with open arms. I look forward to posting on your group

soon!

Thanks,

Sandy

Dear Ones;

Sandy introduced herself already. AS I am still finding emails lost

in the computer won't send category, I've neglected your sincere

concerns, and can only apologize. Sandy, you bring up so many

questions from me, like what is your fats intake (quantity, type,

quality), what is your food combining habit, which grains are you

having problems with (can you do basmati rice, the white, not the

brown?).

And I'll invite you to take a look at a couple recipes I'm posting

tonight which personally and for many I've found reduce the mucous

properties of dairy even more than the significant benefits of

ayurvedically prepared milk, which is often enough. Fermented dairy

I can see causing more complication, but properly used and not taken

cold temperature the recipes for fresh cheese with flax oil or the

garlic milk recipe, both will benefit immune system, milk production,

hormonal balance, vata pacification, and rarely complicate with

mucous. I can use the flax-cottage cheese variations 5 - 6 times

weekly with no problem, although plain cottage cheese two - 3 days in

a row withn a couple weeks or more will give me heavy mucous and

probable throat infection.

Have you done the gluten elimination diet to test if this is

problematic? Grains with gluten include not only wheat but oat,

barley, I beleive the spelt, and it is late, but I think another one

or two. Avoid 1 month, then eat goodly portion, see how you feel.

Hopefully your dehydration issues are resolving? Many mistake this

as an issue, however, when what is really needed is vata

pacification. Dry skin, dry bowels, dry /flaky emotions and

ungroundedness can come with generous use of water but insufficient

warm, oily, yes cooked, properly spiced for digestion foods. ONe of

the things to watch for is the strength of your digestive fire, a

sign asking for more of things on this list.

Yes, foods which take moisture to digest will impair good hormonal

function, rejuvenation, emotional comfort/balance, and milk

production. If anyone else has something to add, please do. This is

an interesting conversation for me, as I have seen (no not

postpartum) but others on all raw diets do very well. Most I have

seen are really depleted with weak digestive fire. the raw sometimes

and for some people helps, depends how it is done of course!

I hope this helps - please share what is working for you, SAndy -

will you?

......and I might add, make sure you don't take any antibiotics before/after

the birth unless absolutely necessary. Some hospitals give them as a general

protocol right after birth. Causes so much trouble, with yeast, nipple yeast

and thrush in the baby.

Sandy, I just was reminded of the value of coconut oil as an anti-yeast agent.

ARe you familiar? Dr. mercola has quite the discussion, including this as among

the properties. I believe it is possible to get very low heat coconut oil, and

in any case it is very heat resistant hence it's recommendation as preferred

cooking oil - enzymes not the issue I guess, as it has so many other properties

(antibacterial, antiviral, etc!). It is cooling, take care as the weather goes

that way with warming spices to balance.

Thanks Martha~

I do have the Tropical Traditions coconut oil that Mercola has on his site. I was adding a tbsp. to smoothies every AM but my blender recently broke so I've been off of it a while. When I do cook I do use the coconut oil or organic butter to cook in. The coconut oil is very anti-fungal and causes die-off symptoms in me so I know it works! It is also awesome for the skin! 3 Tbsp is recommended to treat yeast, etc.but I have a hard time getting this into my daily intake. Many people can just take it on a spoon but I gag with even a tsp. so I need to find more ways to incorporate it daily!

Thanks for the reminder!

Since reading Mercola, I have been trying coconut oil also. I notice that after a while it smells rancid if I mix it into a facial moisturizer, straight it is so messy. What do you all do about the messiness of all the oils ayurvedic calls for?

Coconut oil is great in vanilla yogurt, that's how I get my cod liver oil down.
