Namaste,

The question I

have is really an effort find some validation and information on some dietary

advice that was given to a mom I am working with right now.

The problem I

sometimes have is rumor control. Since a lot of the people I work with do not

know too much about Ayurveda but would like to follow it’s teaching, they

sometimes run into people who claim that this or that is Ayurvedic and

sometimes it seems to me that it is just non-sense or cultural

superstition instead.

So does anyone

here have any information about avoiding eating green mango, pineapples,

eggplant, and spinach during the first 5 months of pregnancy of at any time

during pregnancy?

I personally

have known many women who have wonderful healthy baby’s who have eating

all of these foods (with the exception of maybe the green mangoes) the problem

is that someone told this women I am working with that according to the

“Ayurveda” these foods can cause miscarriage before 5 months!

I was

shocked and thought this was a terrible thing to tell a 1st time

mother! This person that gave her this information gave no explanation why, no

evidence, nothing. I would just tell her I doubt it is true at all but I prefer

to investigate if there is some information so I can find where this

information may be coming from so I can give her some correct information. This

poor mother was worried because she had eaten some pineapple salsa two days

before and thought she could now be at risk for a miscarriage. I told her not

to worry that plenty of people eat pineapple during pregnancy and are just

fine.

Looking forward

to your replies...
