Guest guest
Alobar, My husband takes horse chestnut for the swelling in his legs. His right one is the worse because of varicose veins. He is not diabetic but a neighbor of ours is and takes it with very good results. This herb supports the veins and improves circulation and removes water. I read not too long ago that butchers broom is very good for circulation and people with diabetic circulatory problems. Both herbs seem to help reduce the neuropathy in the feet. Horse chestnut if very strong and you only need to take one 500 mg tablet a day. It makes you pee a lot. So drink plenty of water and if you feel the need to supplement with minerals that may flush out like potassium, calcium and magnesium. I wanted to mention another type of swelling that I learned about and it is due to lymph fluid baking up. My husband recently burned his leg and it caused the lymph fluid to settle around his foot and ankle. He needed to do massage to keep this from pooling in one place, dry brushing helps also as well as walking. I don't know if that may be the reason you have swelling but it is typical for diabetics to have swelling from the blood not circulating enough. Liz D. I did not get to the Healthfood store until a few days ago. Tablets they had there are 300mg so I am taking 2 a day. So far no indication of any change, but will keep going until either the edema goes down or I finish the bottle. Will let you know how it goes. Any websites you know of about how I can do the massage technique you mention? Someone mentioned that off list but I could not find out any details.
