Guest guest
Hi Alobar I hope one day to be in that position but just getting through is the goal at the moment. I have plans to look at herbal help for withdrawal in my dissertation though. I know alcohol abuse centres are staffed by former addicts and it makes sense to trust someone who has been through what you are going through. I have had several well meaning therapists just saying to 'tough it out' when they had no idea what it felt like. I hope that you are in good health Andy > Sorry things are rough for you now, but you will oneday be in > a position to help others in a similar situation. Guest guest
It's good to see such well informed people and appropriate links regarding the use of SSRI's and benzodiazepines here. If only I had a computer when I was prescribed Paxil and Ativan. The good news is that I got a computer, joined the withdrawal groups and with their help got off drugs safely by tapering off slowly. I'll spare us all my long story and say simply that the more time I am drug free the calmer and more natural I feel. Sadly it takes a very long time but time is the true healer. I'm just wondering what herbs Andy is planning to use? I took Niacinamide to help counter the effect of the drugs in my brain, calcium + magnesium to reduce the electrical shock effects and twitchy muscle things the drugs cause, and Ginkgo Biloba to help clear the mental fog and confusion. The Ginkgo takes a few weeks to click in but it did wonders for me. Unfortunately when a person is in withdrawal from these prescription drugs a lot of herbs that would normally work as they where intended don't and can excite the nervous system and intensify the withdrawal. Consequently there are very few things a person in withdrawal can take that don't conflict with the upside down body chemistry we are stuck with while in withdrawal. Wishing everyone well for the Christmas season . . . Dana. I've always suffered from low-grade depression, so I can't credit Zoloft with my current depression. What's your story, btw? What were you on, for how long, how long ago did you get off of it?
